Mike's pov:

I get in the lunch line and get my lunch. I start to walk towards my lunch table.

While I walk to my table I hear be say things to me like "tranny" and "you'll never be a boy", but I'm used to it.

I sit down at my table and start to eat my lunch. I then see El walking up to me.

"Do you wanna eat lunch with my friends over there with me and my friends?" She says pointing over to where the groups at. "Sure," I said hesitantly.

They both started walking over to the table. El started introducing all of them. "That's Will," she said," he's like a brother to me," she continued.

"That's Max my best friend," she says. "That's Lucas he's Max's boyfriend and also my friend," she continues.

"That is Dustin," she said,"the most chaotic of the group" she continued.

"Hey I'm Mike," I say. "Hi," they all say in unison. "I hope you don't mind me sitting here," I say. "Oh, it's no problem dude," says Lucas.

"Yeah it's good to have another guy around," says Dustin," Will and Lucas are annoying sometimes," he whispers. "Hey we heard that!" Said Lucas and Will.

"You think I'm a boy?" I said. "Yeah why wouldn't we?" Said Lucas. "I'm actually trans-," I said.

"We support you," Dustin says. "Yeah I mean I'm gay," says Will," I definitely support you," he continues. "I support you too Wheeler," says Max.

"How do you know my last name?" I said. "We both have geography together 6th period," Max replies. "Ah, I see," I said.

They all spend the rest of there lunch talking to each other, but the only person who occupied Mike's mind is the sweet girl sitting next to him, El Hopper.

Mike was on the bridge smoking a joint. He decided he'd text El.

Mike: hey! Are you still down to hang out today?

El: yeah! Wanna meet at the park by Mirkwood?

Mike: yeah sure, I'll be there in 10!

El: ok! See you there!

Mirkwood is about 4 blocks away. I start to walk to the park and before I know it I'm there.

I must've gotten here early, El's not here yet. I take my joint out of my pocket and I finish smoking it. As soon as I put the small amount of it I have left out I see El in the distance walking up to me.

"Hey Mike," she said. "Hi," I say back shyly.

"Last one to the swings is a rotten egg," she says and starts running towards the swings. I get up as fast as I can and start running towards her.

I hear a dog bark behind me and I turn my head around. As soon as I do that I run right into El. I catch her in my arms before she falls. I look down at her and blush, admiring her features.
