A yawn escaped Rei's mouth as he walked through the corridor of the second year floor. Souji and Souta got called to the teachers office so that leaves him alone.
"What did those idiots do?" he sighed out and just casually made him way to the cafeteria. It was full of students as always during lunch time and the boy grunted not wanting to deal with the crowd.
'Should I skip lunch?' he thought but immediately threw the thought away. Yuri would actually take away his gaming privilege if that happens, that maid of his can be scary if she wants to be.
"Tch. I should just ask Yuri to pack me lunch instead." said Rei already regretting not bringing lunch from home. But to his luck, as a Japanese high school student attending high school in Japan, vending machines are provided on every floor and corner of the school.
"They should restock on the drinks soon." muttered Rei pushing the button of his selected beverage. Opening the can of grape juice he leaned against the window while staring outside boringly. It's been a few months since he came back from his suspension and committee service, if you asked the first year Tatsuya Rei about his seriousness with volleyball he'll just give you a shrug.
But now...
"Man..." the boy ruffled his already messy hair with a chuckle. The team is already like a close family for him, besides having adorable kohais and reliable senpais in the team its the bond that they have. Something Rei never really cared when he first joined the club for the jokes only.
His phone vibrated as the screen showed it was an email from the two other troublemakers.
Sender: Souji
To: Rei
Yo we're at the usual hangout spot. Coming or not?
Rei didn't even bother to reply and shoved the phone inside his pocket while throwing the empty can inside the bin. The hangout spot is just behind the school building near the field where the track and field club are practicing. Souji and Souta were already there and greeted their friend with a high five.
"So what did old dude Gyutaro said?"
"He just told us to join any club in school for that extra mark. Something about college entrance and shit." answered Souta lighting up the cigarette stick before taking a huge whiff followed by Souji who already had his burning half.
"Clubs aren't even helping. My brother didn't even get in college for a year despite being the star baseball player." the red haired exclaimed. Souta's brother was an alumni of Karasuno and was the ace of the baseball club, despite taking the nameless Karasuno up to only district level games he was the best player in the club and even getting local awards. But even that wasn't enough for him to get into college.
"Oh yeah, you said your brother got a job at Tokyo right?"
"A former teammate of his recommended him to his supervisor. Now he's like a sales assistant in a sports shop, I don't know." shrugged Souta. "Well at least he's out of this boring old town. Meanwhile we're stuck with the shop." Souji's family business is pretty well known in the neighbourhood. It's most likely he'll take over once he graduates from high school.
"Hey, at least handling a Ryokan is better! You'll meet many people and foreigners are crazy about Ryokans."
Rei just silently listened to their usual bickerings. He may sound arrogant but he isn't worried about what he'll do once he graduates high school, he'll take a business course somewhere overseas for college and take over the company. His sister was set on not wanting to take over to take on her fashion design dream.
(a/n: sounds like a typical rich people problem to me)
"Will you go that training camp again Rei?"
His thoughts were broken off at Souji's question which he nodded in reply. "Man, if you're this serious with this volleyball thing then me and Souta should go and watch one of your matches then! What was it? The Spring National preliminaries right?"
"We'll definitely go there to watch!"
Rei stared at the two idiots with wide eyes before breaking into a low chuckle.
"Thanks guys."

And so, summer vacation came along also the continuation of the Tokyo away games. Each of the boys did their own personal training other than the usual practices they do at the school gym. New strategy and techniques were discussed together but Kageyama and Hinata were still not in their talking terms after the fight.
"Will those bastards even be okay once we're at Tokyo?" Rei spoke out loud while observing the two first years who are ignoring each other. Yachi was next to him cleaning up since practice is done for the day, she sweatdropped when Rei called them bastards.
"Usually fights lasts quiet a while but they'll make up... eventually." the first year manager said or rather questioned. Suga so happened to be behind them and spoke, "They'll be fine. But they're not the only worry we have." Sugawara gave Rei a look to which he shamelessly tilted his head.
"What? Me?"
" Don't act surprised you bastard." Daichi walked up to them as he smacked him on the back. Rei winced at the slap and pouted, "Once we get there you are not allowed to square up or even fight with the players there. And I mean no one." he warned the player. Rei took cover behind Sugawara.
"...Not even - "
"No."
"What about - "
"No."
Rei scoffed and stomped his way towards Asahi who is carrying the net back to the storage room.
"Who knew we can talk to him this casually now. Compared to last year, we can't even look him in the eyes without getting cussed out." said Daichi. His friend nodded in agreement earning curious looks from Yachi.
"The captain back when we were in second year almost got himself punched when he pat Rei on the back during a game."
"Nani?!"
That's a story for later.
A few days later the team were ready to go to Tokyo once again and this time Rei was determined to play at least a full set for one match.
