Chapter 16: And So It Begins

Yamaguchi's POV

YAWN

I never knew Rei senpai would hold me back till late last night. We both almost missed dinner time but... even with senpai's guide i still couldn't do a proper service.

I too... want to grow stronger for the team.

"Yamaguchi, we need to head towards the gym soon." 

Tsuki's voice broke me from my thoughts as we stood in line for breakfast. "Gomen Tsukki." I sheepishly smiled.

"Oh? Did Rei senpai left already?" 

The second year was nowhere to be seen in the cafeteria in fact I didn't see him when I woke up too. Don't tell me -

"He went for a morning run before breakfast and took his already, he's probably inside the gym by now with the rest." Nishinoya senpai answered for me. I see, I couldn't help but let out a sigh of relief. When he left us without telling anyone I have to say the whole team panicked which is understandable. To lose one of your team members while you're away for club activities is basically a horror for anyone.

Takeda sensei almost passed out when he found out and it took both Daichi and Asahi senpai to hold down Ukai from rampaging.

"Oi Tsukishima! Eat up! Or you're not gonna last!" 

"Nishinoya-san, at least your stomach's big."

"You cheeky little brat!"

This is... too much!

Karasuno haven't won a single match for today and I think we spent most of our energy and time on doing the punishment instead. "Think fast." I clumsily caught the water bottle in my hand to see Rei senpai standing in front of us, like the rest he was drenched in sweat since the whole team had to do the punishment.

"T-thank you senpai."

"I told ya! Just call me Rei no need that honorifics shit I don't like it." he waved his hand as I sheepishly smiled. "Dude are you not tired?" Tanaka senpai spoke as we glanced over him, he was referring to Rei who shrugged. 

"I work out occasionally. We have a gym at home so yeah."

"You rich bastard!"

Our conversations were interrupted when the managers walked inside carrying a whole plate of juicy watermelons each. 

"Everyone! The parents from Shinzen High gave us some watermelons!"

With that we all took a snack break.

Author's POV

Everyone took a short watermelon break and thus the teams began to mingle with each other. Our main character sat with the third years from his team while talking to each other. "Man this watermelon is sweet." Rei exclaimed after taking another bite from the watermelon slice in his hand, it was already his third slice making the others agree with him.
