19. Stopping Oogie

Oogie wasn't aware of our plan. The major did his job well.

The kids went around him and pulled on all sides. The threads ripped apart and his skin came off. The crowd seemed to be amazed as his form was only a massive amount of insects sticking together. It didn't take him long to fall apart, spreading all around the town, making everyone scream out. I bit my hand preventing myself to make a sound as some bugs climbed on top of me. I jumped around making them fall off. I got out off the crowd, heading towards the wall where jack was. I grabbed the jars I found in Oogie's and handed two at the skeleton "Place them near Oogie and keep them open." I told Sally the same, once she came towards us. With me, we had six of the jars.

We made a circle around the area, where he is supposed to get back together. But is wasn't as easy as before, since the sweet scent of the jars was irresistible. The bugs followed the smell, till only a few remained. I ordered Jack and Sally to close the jars, while I did mine. The rest of the bugs went into the new sack, revealing a tiny bunny now.

A first the crowd had gone quiet.

The minute Oogie spoke up, at what they all looking at, everyone burst out laughing. It was louder than any scream. I jumped up at the skeleton in joy, while he wrapped his arms around me "We did it Jack!" "Yes, we won!" Sally ran towards us, hugging us both. The major climbed up his car and announced something on his loud speaker "Citizens of Halloween Town. Our new leader Oogie Boogie has failed his job as the leader of our Town..." he pointed at me to come over to his car "...but don't fear, we have a new leader of Halloween Town...may I present to you...N/A the doll!"

Everyone cheered at me.

The next, the major handed me the microphone "My dear citizens, I don't deserve your cheering. It was I that caused all this mess. Some of you might know me as the witch that ruined the event of the pumpkin king."

The crowd went quiet now, glaring at me.

"I don't deserve to be your new ruler and because of that I am giving up my title to someone else..."

I could see the fear in their eyes, hoping it wouldn't be someone bad.

"Please give it up for the new leader of Halloween Town...Jack Skeleton....the Pumpkin King!"

Jack came over to me; hold me tight against me, while everyone screamed out in joy. They whistled, clapped, everything that cheered him on. It was clear; jack was a natural born leader and they knew it. Jack ordered the citizens to get the kids and Oogie back to their place, outside of Town and to never return back ever again.

I smiled at the skeleton "And? How is it to be back on top pumpkin king?"

He smiled "I can't put it into words, but I there is another way to express it." I looked at him confused, as he leaned down to me. He grabbed my face and kissed me on to my lips. For a minute it felt like the time has stopped. I expected to be cold and hard, since he has no lips...but...it was nice. Once he backed away, he watched my face blushing hard. He grabbed my hands in his "Too bad you are not from here...we could have had a future together." "I am sorry Jack, as much as I love you. I can't stay here." He thought about it "You know...you could stay." I shook my head "No I can't. I would starve to death..." I laughed "...and besides, I miss my family." Out from the corner of my eyes, I saw Sally hiding behind the wall. She never told me how she felt of Jack, but it was too obvious. I pointed at her "But I am sure, that you two could have a future together." Jack followed my finger, seeing Sally coming towards us. The skeleton looked from me to Sally "But...I love you." "I love you too. I always will. But we will never be together. Sally loves you too, she always have."

"Really?"

Jack looked over to Sally "Is that true?" she nodded. "Why didn't you tell me?" "Because of your love to N/A" she said, looking away. I backed away slowly, giving them space. I headed over to the major "Nice going, you didn't fail after all!" He laughed relieved "indeed, the town is saved and we will have an entire year for the next event. It couldn't be better" he looked at me "And what will you do now?"

"Me? I will go back to the human world, leaving all this behind...and probably forget this place."

"Oh no, you don't!"

I felt Jack's arms wrap around me, kissing my head "I don't want you to forget this place...you are a part of this place now...no matter where you are." He grabbed my hand and sally's and announced loud "Everybody, let's party!!!!!!"
