"How would you like to strike a little deal?" She didn't like the way his grin widened like a wolf, but said anyway,

"Go on."

"Well.." His eyes roved down her lithe form, perched on the edge of his knee. Purposely, he shifted so she fell closer against him. Her brow furrowed in annoyance, but he looked up at her in an expression she had never seen before. Confused hope.

He continued, "You can pretend to be with me."

He paused as she considered him, slightly confused.

"You mean...pretend to be yours?"

His eyes were half lidded, as if drugged on drinking her up with the way she had said that so innocently. His response was less innocent.

"Yes. Mine. All mine."

His words coursed through her brain. To be his, even to pretend, made her feel like she was leaving something important behind. He traced a finger in lazy circles on the arm chair.

"Think about it Jones...you can help me out by showing our dear Kat that it's time to move on...meanwhile we can also make your Spider a little jealous?"

She raised an eyebrow.

"You think I'm that desperate, Osborne?" Her eyes flashed at the assumption that she would beg for someone's, anyone's, attention that had so clearly been ignoring her.

He smirked. "Never." His gaze steadily locked with hers, with a fierceness allowed her to let down her guard...if only just a little.

"Fine. Just until the gala. Just long enough for me to get Kat off my back - and get Spider man's attention. If that's what you want..."

She caught a note of hesitation in his voice, and she wondered why the last part made her scared to answer. To put any definition on what was happening. He seemed to sense that as he drew closer. Like a butterfly in his hands, he wanted her to stay, but he didn't want to crush her to keep her.

"If not for revenge, then... how about just for...fun?" He drawled, leaning towards her and stroking a feather light touch along her jaw, tilting her chin up. Maybe these terms would feel safer to her.

"Fun with you sounds like dangerous territory." She murmured at his increasingly feline gaze.

His mouth twisted into a wry grin.

"That's because it is darling." His eyes flicked over to where Katarina was still lurking, who's attention seemed to be growing with all the intensity of a wildfire. Slowly he turned her face that way, to see their first target.

"Now, why don't we let the fun and games begin?"

His eyes glazed over dangerously as he drug his thumb across her lower lip. Before she could register the sensation, he dipped his head and allowed his lips to press where his thumb had just been.

This kiss wasn't familiar like His had been. This was different...and maybe dangerous. Her heart cracked a fraction as she started to remember. But she wouldn't let herself go there.

It was a game.

So she let that troublesome heart ice over.

As if to reiterate that, she responded to his mouth with her own. She could feel him hum against her lips just slightly, as if in surprised approval.

Always so surprised

She swore he gave her a playful nip on her lip before pulling away.

As he did, he took a good look at his little catastrophe. Skin flushed. Lips slightly swollen, courtesy of him. Dangerous Territory indeed.
