Chapter 21

Sakura ran through the trees with haste, not knowing where she was heading. How far could he have gone? She wondered to herself. I hope i can find him.

Sure enough, her prayers were answered. Sasuke sat in a small clearing, seemingly oblivious to the world around him. "I thought I told you not to follow me." Never mind. He was completely on guard.

"You told your team not to follow you." She smiled. She walked over to where Sasuke was and sat down next to him. She could've sworn she saw him inch away. ignoring her mind, she scooted closer to him. "Are you doing ok Sasuke-kun?"

He grunted in response. Of course he would. He never gave a normal answer. 

Except to Naruto.

Sakura narrowed her eyes at herself. Just what is she thinking? She shook the thought out of her head and continued to ask him questions.

"Are you hurt?"

He stared at her. She could feel him looking her up and down, butterflies swarming her stomach.

"No."

"Need any food?"

"No."

She slightly frowned at this. Does it really take up so much energy to be nice?

"Are...you thirsty?" She brought out a small canteen and held it to his lips.

"No." he firmly stated as he veered his head away.

At this point she felt dejected, and internally sighed at his one word answers. "Do you need anything?"

"Space."

Kami, was he really this butt-hurt about losing that idiot? He needs to see that this isn't as big a deal as he's making it. She thought to herself. With newfound confidence she puffed up her chest and sat even closer to sasuke, seemingly not remembering that he didn't want to be bothered. "Look Sasuke-kun, I'm not sure why you're acting like a whooped dog, but the situation isn't that serious."

He raised an eyebrow at her choice of words. "Not that...serious?"

Proud of not just getting one word to answer her question, she continued, unaware of sasuke's face contorting to one of pain, anger, and betrayal. "Yeah, I mean you were going to give him away to begin with, right?"

Sasuke gritted his teeth. "What exactly made you think that?"

The pinkette motioned over his robe. "You're with the Akatsuki, what else would you do? well, job's done, you can come home now."

She was getting dangerously close to him, but Sasuke wasn't the one that would be danger. His sharingan spun wildly in his eye as he glared at her with clear malicious intent, well, the intent was clear to most. He quickly stood up and drew his sword, causing the once laying on him sakura to fall into the ground.

"You're a lot less worried about Naruto's safety than you should be haruno." He sneered. "had i known any better, I would say that you're happy about his disappearance." he cocked his head to the side. "aren't you two friends?"

Taken aback by his tone, Sakura sat in silence. He had a point though. What did she think of Naruto?

Sasuke shook his head and rose to his feet. "I'll give you time to think." He turned to face her the smallest of smiles on his face. "I hope you find the truth in you, the same way I did."

Sakura watched his back as he walked away, soon disappearing into the forest on the way back to camp. Tears fell down her face, but not because of Sasuke's attitude, but her's. Memories of the times Naruto countlessly saved her came to her memory. What was she doing? Why was she acting this way?

Naruto had been nothing but nice to her, but all she showed to him was nothing but assholery. Thats not even a real word, but it fits perfectly.

Wiping her tears, she scrambled to her feet and ran to the camp.

"You all right pinkie?" Karin called out

"Yes! Where is sasuke?" Sakura asked desperately 

"I'm right here." The raven seemed to stare into her soul. "well?"

Sakura wiped the remaining tears from her face. "I know how to get Naruto back."

Suigetsu perked up at this. "Really!? How?"

Jugo seemed keen on what she had to say, his eyes turning wide.

Sakura smiled. "It's not like I'm in the woods alone, y'know?"

Apologies for the chapter being so short, but here's a chapter for those who have been waiting for a while.
