"What a plotwist you are"
Lilianne's POV
"He's bleeding!" I gasped
"I told you so. Time to sober up. Where do you have the first aid kit? Put him on the ground. Time to check his breathing!" Valentina exclaimed waving her hands in different directions.
I decided to look for a first aid kit, but when I turned around, Jason was nowhere to be found.
"Valentina, we lost him!"
"His life was so short!" She cried. I raised my eyebrows and slapped my hand to my forehead.
"He went somwhere, dummy"
Trying to process what had just happened, which was not easy, I saw Jason coming down the stairs. With his arm wrapped in a bandage, a fragment of a bullet in his hand.
I raised my eyebrows at which he, surprised, asked "What's going on?"
"What's going on? Are you serious? You show up at night, you bleed and then as if nothing had happened, you ask what happened?"
"And I thought your dating choices in Spain were creepy"- Valentina laughed
"Who is she?" Jason asked clearly annoyed.
"She is Valentina. Nice to meet you, Jason" She smiled.
The awkward exchange of glances between Val and Jason was interrupted by the doorbell.
A delivery man stood in the doorway.
"If I had known that such a beautiful woman lives here, I would have come more often"
Suddenly I felt hot breath on my back.
"I don't think you'll ever show up here" He growled.
The boy paled in a second. He left our order without even taking the money and ran away.
I'm blaming my drunk brain for not reacting, just laughing.
Initially, I was nervous about meeting Val and Jason. I didn't really plan it, so I'm glad it turned out as it turned out. I spent the rest of the evening with Valentina. Jason didn't answer my question about where the blood came from, but I didn't have the strength to pursue the subject. He left the house around 3, saying he still has to do some work.
It was almost 5 am and I couldn't sleep.
"What if knowing him doesn't do me any good" I asked myself.
Unknowingly, I thought about it aloud.
"There should be a book that answers the question "What to do when your friend meets a criminal and you live on the other side of the world"- Valentina said and I laughed. She continued "If he was a regular boy and I met him today I would say girl go for it but on the back of my head I have the fact that he is a murderer, a criminal and this part of me is saying girl, run away"
"And adding it all together?" I asked
"Adding it all together. If it's not too late, run away"
It wasn't the answer I was waiting for
A few days later
I decided to put my thoughts aside and study. Due to a power failure at the school, we had the rest of the week off. I figured this was the perfect time to catch up with school assingments.
After studying for a few hours, I went for a walk. I called each of my friends to see if they wanted to go for a walk, but everyone was busy. I went to Pelham Bay Park. It started to get dark. I got up from the bench and heard a shot.
I'll never leave the house again.
I began to slowly move away as I felt the gun against my temple. My body began to tremble involuntarily. I whispered "I didn't see anything. Let me go"
The gun was no longer next to my head. I turned slowly and saw a man in front of me.
"Lilianne! What are you doing here alone?" He asked. How does he know my name? Am I popular for dating a criminal or something? I have pact with other criminals now?
"Who are you?" I asked.
"Sorry to scare you. I'm Bruno. Jason's friend " He replied happily.
How ridiculous. If I didn't know Jason, I'd be dead here, but since I know him, me and Bruno are friends. What not to understand!
"Oh, hello! Such a beautiful night!" I replied sarcastically. "Anyway, I should go"
"Not so fast! I was on my way to Jason, we can go together, or I can drop you off at your apartment"
"Look, I don't know you. I heard about you, but I don't know how "Bruno" look like and I don't want to end up dead in the forest, because I was too naive."
He laughed. "You impressed me! Let's call Jason".
The man took out his phone. After a few rings, I heard Jason's voice
"If you screwed up your job, don't even say a word" He replied threateningly.
"I'm sorry you don't believe in me. I met a girl, you think I can bring her to you?" He asked.
"You have your apartment. Stop bringing some bitches to mine"
"Stop brining some bitches to mine" I mocked him.
"Lilianne? What are you doing with him?" His tone of voice changed instantly.
"He almost shot me a moment ago and then offered to give me a ride home. What else?"
"I see you in the apartment in half an hour." He exclaimed and hung up
"Such a drama queen!" I sighed.
"Do not tell me!" Bruno laughed.
"Can we stop at McDonald's? I'm hungry!"
"Won't he be angry?" He asked.
"You are asking like if you don't know!" I laughed.
