As the men stood there patiently, waiting for what could be the end to their days or even to one of their greatest victories. While Emil watched the Defynors approach, he noticed that they weren’t all the same, but somewhere armored and some were golem-like. The golem ones where the ones that sprint and the others march as well as the giants. Emil kept trying to think and notice these details while they came, he is his friend's assassin so he likes to analyze, but poorly for him there is no time for that now.
In the back of them, Emil began to hear horses gallop to the front, there were about 20 horses and one of them had the king on it. He was armored up and he sat on his horse proud and strong.
“Alright men, I know this was something we were not prepared for, but I know you all can do it, every single one of you. I am here to fight alongside you all to prove my trust in your strength, even against such foul enemies. Now shall we let those filthy things take our home or shall you rip them apart and stain the ground of their loss as the symbol of our love to those we care for?” The king roared such powerful words and everyone yelled in confidence of their victory.
Even though Emil has fought these things off already, this is on a far more bigger scale. God I hope you are there, is what he kept repeating as they drew closer and he closed his eyes waiting for the call.
“Charge!” he heard the king's voice yell out and everyone started to join his roar.
Everyone started to charge at the monsters and as they ran they saw huge fire balls and arrows fly into the creatures. As they got closer, you could see as the riders started to slash the monsters up ahead. Finally the men finally clashed into them, the golem like beasts started to jump on the men and ripping at them. The first wave of creatures was a hard wave, but it was bad. They just slowed the men down and allowed the armored creatures to get closer. As they killed off the rest, they all noticed the second wave charging at full power with swords and shields at the ready. You could hear the monsters roaring even louder and they all clashed. When both sides slammed on one another, there was a rough crush of metal and flesh crushing onto each other. The Defynors began to easily crush through the men, but before they did anything significant the second half broke into two to clash on the sides of the monsters. Emil was in the very front of the mess, but thankfully, for his expertise, he was able to push them back and hold them off long enough for others to come and help. It was a complete slaughter on both sides, but even though they held the fight off well, they began to get pushed back by their force. The giants started to swing and crush those on the sides as the other ones pushed forward. Although it seemed like a win at first, it quickly switched to a horrible soon defeat. The Sybrin army was able to hold them off without a massive amount of losses, but their numbers began to drop.
As Emil fought and noticed what was happening, he looked at the king that was next to him and all he saw was pure fear. Not of his own death, but what could be the fall to his kingdom. The two of them, as well as Glim that found them, started to try to push the front middle so they could get some leverage. It didn’t work, but they tried as hard as they could.
Once things looked like a loss cause and Emil was about to give up and take the king to safety, one of the men screamed in relief, “look, we have backup. We are saved!”
As Emil looked where the man was pointing, he turned his eyes in confusion and saw another army. It wasn’t of Defynors, but it was humans and a lot of them. They all were on horses, there were about two thousand of them charging down the hill at full speed. As they came, the Sybrin men started to scatter away from the monsters as they completely trampled and ran over the creatures with ease. They completely slaughtered the monsters in just mere seconds of them being there. Emil noticed as he watched them fight, that the army had Royal Guards and mostly soldiers of the Kirren Royal house. That house was actually Allies with the Sybrin army, but it was surprising to see them as well as the Royal Guards. As they finished the last of the creatures, one of the men that seemed very familiar to Emil approached him.
“Well, hello again my friend,” the man said, slowing down. As he got closer, Emil wiped his eyes so he could see and there he was his friend Edward.
“Holy shit, my friend,” Emil’s face lightened up as Edward jumped off his horse to give him a hug and continued, “what are you doing here, I thought you were helping out somewhere else?”
“Well I was. I went to check on the towns under the Hell Gateways. There were Royal Guards already all over there so I was able to finish quickly,” as Edward finished, the two of them heard squealing in the distance where the king was and they rushed over.
“But after I finished, I ended up running into Luke at the last town and he told me that there were Royal Guards that were heading over here as well as the Kirren army.” Edward said as they were running.
“I see, but how did they even know about the attack happening?” Emil asked, confused.
“Well, I was told that the Royal Guards heard about the possible attack and the higher ups sent a messenger bird to the Kirren House to get some help,” Edward finished as they approached the king.
“What’s going on?” Emil asked curiously, as they began to see four soldiers holding down one of the monsters.
“We found this one still alive and we are trying to get some answers out, but the fucking thing doesn’t even speak English,” said Glim as he kicks its head.
“It is a sad thing. It could have given valuable information,” the king finishes as he starts to walk away.
“Actually I might have something of valuable information,” Emil said, getting their attention and starting again, “when I camped for the first night, I ended up waking up under a cliff where I heard those things talking.
I’m guessing they were their commander or something because of the way it was talking. It was commanding them, as well as being able to speak choppy english.”
“What did you hear? Like did you hear plans or anything?” the king asked, as he got more interested.
“No. Not exactly. He was just saying everything was coming to plan, but then he started to talk in their weird language and gave out orders again,” Emil said kind of upset, but hopeful.
“Well, at least we know now that they aren’t just attacking cluelessly. They have a leader and higher ups, so we just need to figure out who or what,” Edward added, trying to back up Emil’s information.
Everyone looked at each other a bit more hopefully and the king ordered everyone to go back to the city. Before he left, he told Emil and Edward that if they are in need of anything, even if it's the support of their army, they will be happy to help. As everyone started to leave, the Royal Guards rushed back home, as well as the Kirren people after saying their goodbyes to their allies.
As Emil tried to follow the others to the capital, Edward stopped him and said, “wait, we aren’t going where they are going.”
“What do you mean, aren’t we going to go meet the others at the capital?” Emil asked, very uncertain of the situation.
“We will be meeting them, but not there. When I found Luke, he told me that we should go to the Latvia Royal House instead,” as Edward finishes he looks at Emil waiting for his response.
Surprised by what Edward just addressed, he began, “wait, the Latvia house? Why there? I thought that place was abandoned? What about Dimitri, how would he react to this?”
“Luke knows that it’s a bit of a thing to say, but no one will go there and it would be safe for us to recollect what the fuck is happening.” Edward said, taking a deep breath after.
Emil looked towards the direction of the Latvia Royal House and said, “well I guess we should start heading there.”
The two of them looked at each other in comfort and they began their long walk to the place they never expected to see.
