I could hear my parents downstairs apologizing to Henry and Mr. D. Saying that I had a lot to deal with, and that they will make sure I don't do something stupid and reckless.
Which of course I was going to do, that was why I was pacing in my room, making plans to get out of the house and find George. While I did that a question popped up. Several, actually. The first was if it is the boss who kidnapped George, and if it was, why? Was it a trap to get me? That was what Henry said, he was looking for a werewolf and that the Boss wanted me so he can get paid. The next question was where would he take him, if it was him? The same place where Franklin, Bobby and Steven held me? Was that where it all began.
I did think that the capture could be Emma, but then why would she take him? To get back at me? If so, the only two places she would take him, if I looked at the note, would be outside of the school, or the girls bathroom in the auditorium. But I ruled her out as a suspect. Henry suspected the Boss, even if he didn't say it earlier, he said it the night before.
Then another question popped into my head, was Henry looking for me to get to the Boss? Or was he just here to get me? I hoped that he was here to get the Boss. But seeing as this is a small town it wouldn't take him long to figure out that I'm the werewolf. He could have a chat with the Sherrif, and he would know it is me.
My parents were on their way showing Henry and Mr. D out. I thought of climbing out my window again, that meant I had 2 minutes to do it. I opened my window silently as Henry talked loud enough to hopefully drown out the sound. I climbed on the branch that extended to my window. I waited for another loud sound to jump onto it. Then like some being that listened to my prayers, Henry or Mr. D bumped something and it landed with a
crash, I jumped. while they were busy with the
commotion
I climbed the branch jumping onto a lower branch. I waited for the apologizing to stop, and they left. As the front door closed, I jumped from the branch landing with a thud.
I didn't wait for the pain in my legs to go away when I stared to run. I ran in the direction of the school, deciding that would be the first place I was going to check tracking George's scent. If I couldn't find it, I was going to the bunker that Franklin and Bobby held me.
I got a hundred meters from the school border when I hid behind a tree. There were extra security guards. Guessing they were upping security because there was another kidnapping that took place in the school. I smelled the air, and a few scents filled my nostrils. None I recognized. I circled the school, still got nothing. Not even the scent of blood.
After circling the school twice, I still couldn't get anything. I did try to get closer, dodging the guards and their lights.
Deciding to go to the bunker I recognized the sound of the carry-on. I turned back and saw it driving toward the school. They must have figured out I'd come here. I ran as fast as I could, circling in a few spots in case they were going to track me. That was the one thing I was certain of.
I got to the lake and tried to remember, where the bunker was. The memory of the Sherriff visiting me in the hospital flashed in my mind. I remembered my dad said I came from the west side. I headed west. I pumped my legs to go faster, knowing that my parents would come after me and find me, once they did, they would stop me.
I ran for what seemed a very long time, my lungs already starting to burn. George's scent entered my nose, I stopped in my tracks. It wasn't only his scent, but also the smell of blood. It was like time stopped, the moment stretching on for a lifetime. I shook my head breaking the trance and started to run again. When the bunker finally came into view, I slowed to a jog, stopping a few meters from it. I listened closely for any movement or voices, there was nothing. Just deafening silence.
Sneaking toward it, I heard a scuffling. I stopped and listened, hearing it again.
I could smell George. His scent got stronger the closer I got. He was there. I went to the window that I looked through after I escaped. Jumping and grabbing the ledge I pulled myself up looking through the window. The rooms were dark, but I could see perfectly. There was no one there the chairs and the table that sat in the middle of the room was thrown over and broken. I could see brown splotches in the concrete walls, which took me a moment to recognize as dried blood.
My stomach churned at the thought of Franklin or Bobby being ripped apart.
I let go of the ledge and sneaked around in a crouch to the front door. It was open and police tape laid on the floor. I listened and heard nothing once more. The copper smell of the dried blood invaded my nose, I switched to breathe through my mouth.
I made my way to the other room; the wall was blasted out from the spell Franklin had cast. Peering into the room, I saw a dark figure in the furthest corner. The figure was laying on the ground. It was George. I whispered his name, but I got no response not a stirring or any kind of movement. Moving toward him, I tried to talk to him, but didn't get any response. When I got to him, I turned him around and saw his eyes were closed, his mouth was tapped shut and hands tied behind his back. I looked down to see a pool of blood coming from his stomach.
A different kind of panic flooded through me. "Crap. Crap. Crap," I whispered and pressed my hand to the wound. The front door slammed shut, and the lights went on. I jerked my head around. There in the middle of the room stood the Boss.
"Hello Anna, I see you got my message," he said in a calm voice.
