Finally, after 6 whole days of gruelling work and battles of home works, it's finally Sunday. I put on a fresh roll of bandage on my injured hand before doing a little skip out of the dorm towards the gates where me and March decided to meet. I was just fiddling with my bracelet when I saw a sandy haired figure coming closer and closer from the boy's dormitory.
"Sorry I'm late. The guys held me up." He apologized.
I was lost for words, seriously. I didn't even hear what he says next! March looks so...handsome! Not gonna lie he looks absolutely...charming! Even though his looks only appears to be a plain white shirt, a pale yellow vest, white jeans and converse. But I guess considering his shaggy, messy, sandy hair and blue orbs that matches his wristwatch, he looks...absolutely charming.
"Wh-what? What did you say?" I asked as I snapped out of my trance.
"I was asking if you're ready-"
"Yep! All ready!" I exclaimed before he can finish his sentence.
"Alright." He let out an awkward laugh. "I hope you don't mind taking the bus."
"Not in the least." I shrugged. As long as I get my dessert, I'm in.
We headed towards the bus station - which is a few metres away from our school - while cracking some jokes and conversations from time to time. And of course always topped with our usual comments like "knucklehead" or "boulder brain" or one time I even called him "dunderhead". The thing is, none of us seem to mind these idiotic nicknames. We even used it as a pet name. Our little idiotic conversation is stopped as soon as we spotted a blue and silver vehicle ahead honking it's horns at us for arriving late. After taking a pair of the available seats at the back, we resume our little conversation again. You know, by this point I don't know if I should call it a conversation or a fight after recalling the number of times we insulted each other's stupidity in a certain situation.
"We're here!" March exclaimed suddenly and pointed to a dome shaped building ahead.
"Oh wow." I let out a gasp of excitement and amazement at the massive and majestic construction ahead of me as I pressed the button to informed the driver of our stop.
We mutter some apologies to the driver before stepping out of the bus and walked towards the massive building. It was a beautiful sight. A majestic dome made out of glass that changes hue every once in a while. It alternates from blue to purple and white when the sunlight is reflected upon it. By the entrance, there's a nice pale yellow pathway decorated with shrubs and flowers of different types and colors. Midway, there's also a wooden bridge that's flanked with crystal clear - with a hint of blue - water equipped with water lilies and Koi fishes.
The inside of the dome is none less majestic than the appearance outside. The flooring is covered entirely with a soft red carpet and fancy white and gold chairs and tables are situated rather neatly around the dome. A massive golden chandelier that is hung in the middle of the construction is also hard to miss since it's so huge, bright and beautiful. We spotted a table nearby and sit there. The table's not only equipped with a menu and pack of tissues but also a cute little golden bell to toll when we're ready to order. Despite the fanciness of the place, the food is not too expensive but rather reasonable if I do say so myself. I ordered a nice chocolate zebra sundae and cookies and cream milkshake while March ordered a banana split and cookie monster milkshake. Within moments our orders has arrived.
"Look at these marshmallows!" March exclaimed, squishing a teddy bear shaped marshmallow that he found on his milkshake. "Cute isn't he?"
"Yeah he is. Pity he's delicious." I gave a short sigh before popping a couple of teddy bear marshmallows into my mouth. "Hmm, yum. And for a reasonable price too."
"Facts." March muttered as he slurped on his milkshake. "This is scrumptious!"
I followed his gesture and take a sip on mine. "Best cookies and cream ever!" I exclaimed.
"Oh really? Let me judge it for myself." Before I can permit it, he used his straw to have a couple of slurps from my milkshake. "Nice." He muttered casually.
I was close to burst and complain to him when a sly idea pop in my head. I'll just gave him a taste of his own medicine, but I added a little twist of my own. Before he can react, I leaned towards his beverage and began stealing a few slurps with his straw! I know it's downright weird and all and I could've just used my own straw to be fair but I was too pumped up for revenge I forgot.
"You're not lying either." I licked the cream off my lips. "Those are scrumptious."
"D-did you just-" He stammered.
"What? A cat got your tongue?" I sniggered. For the first time, March didn't snigger at my joke. He can't have not get it. He's too smart for that.
"Y-you just d-did a-a-"
"Did a what? Some stealing? I admit I did but it's only to make things even."
"At least I have the decency to use my own straw. But you- you- you-"
"Come on, I never guessed you're a germaphobe. I'll grab another one if it means that much to you." I huffed impatiently.
"N-no it's fine. You know what, I think I want to keep it." He muttered as a thin flecks of crimson blush dotted his cheeks. He grab a sheet of tissue and wrapped the plastic straw with it before stowing it carefully into his pocket.
"Weirdo." I muttered as I grab a cookie off my milkshake.
"Oh, by the way, Scarlette. I need to ask you a favor."
"What is it?" I asked, looking up from my activity.
"I...uhh...sorta got this thing yesterday." March slowly slides a white envelope on the table, his face turning crimson uncontrollably. From the tear, I suppose he already opened it before.
"What's this? A letter from home?" I examined the letter more closely.
"No! Just- just open it."
I extracted a folded sheet of fancy paper inside and began to read it, semi-aloud.
'The rose is red,
The violets are blue,
Sugar is sweet,
But so are you!'
I blanched when I read the sender's name. "Britney Sterling.... What kind of dirty luck is this?!"
"Dirty luck? I'd say a blessing from heaven. I just got a love letter from Britney Sterling! The girl I've been crushing on for ages! I've confessed to her several times before though, but she rejected me. Oh, how the heavens have-"
"Excuse me?" I cut him off. "You've confessed to her before this?"
"Yep. I've been crushing on her for about a year now. And I have confessed to her probably about...4 times...I think?"
"Yet you're still strong on your feelings even after all of that?"
"You can say so. I guess heaven wants to reward me for my persistence." March raised his nose proudly.
"Yeah...right." I stared at my feet in dismay.
What am I going to do?! My guts are right about that fishy feeling. I know a girl won't just blatantly accept you with open arms after all that rejection. I know some would, but knowing Britney, there's something behind that "ugh confession". It's obviously a fake to use as a shield for her actual intentions. What's her actual intentions though?! I better hope I find it quick and save March from it before the it blows. From my past experiences, it ain't a happy ending when you're dealing with that type of people.
Come on Britney, what are you up to?
