KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK
Someone rapped the girl's dorm rather eagerly. 'Must've been an early bird' I thought. And a boy too. Cause so far, the brass doors hasn't been opened at all. The girls are either inside of the shower stalls, bathroom stalls, makeup station or having the best holiday of their life and sleeps. But not me. Well I was but now I'm not. I spent the whole of last night revising my exam papers. There are some questions that I need to settle in my head.
KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK
The impatient someone continued to knock.
"I'm coming, I'm coming." I groaned, rubbed the sleepiness off my eyes and opened the door to find March already dressed up in pale turquoise shirt, short white pants and brown belt and sandals. "March?"
"HAPPY EASTER!" March bounced up and down in excitement. "What a good start to our easter day with a stroll on the grounds, eh?"
"March, you know the grounds are out of bounds 'till nine for the egg hunt." I yawned.
"Oh, bummer." March's mood starting to go downhill. "Why aren't you dressed?" March pointed at my pajamas.
"Because I'm still catching some sleep, stupid! Leave me for 5 minutes and I'll see you at the canteen, kay?"
"Alright, no oversleeping!" March warned.
"Yea, yea." I mumbled before closing the door.
"The guy from Valentine's Day?" Becky asks as she tied her long black hair up. I nodded. "'Bit odd ain't he? Popping in at certain mornings just to see his cute, little girlfriend."
"We're not dating!" I huffed for the umpteenth time.
"Girlfriend doesn't always mean special someone alright! Geez, chill out will ya?" Becky grabbed her heels and head out.
I quickly headed towards the bathroom to freshen up. After that, I put on my already planned easter wear. Not only is my mom a romance enthusiast, my mom also loved pastel colors. Which is why today's outfit is a long sleeved shirt and a ruffly pale turquoise skirt. She's also kind enough to pack a pastel colored necklace, pale turquoise bracelet and tiny purse and also a pair of white sandals. Seeing that it's been a little bit past 5 minutes, I hurried towards the canteen where March's waiting.
~~~
"Alright students, everybody here?!" The principal announced through the microphone.
"YES!" All the students shouted in unison.
"Very well, greetings my beautiful and handsome students. I can see you're all in the pastel and easter moods today. Well, good news for the sweets and chocolate lovers since every year in this school, we held a chocolate egg hunt. And don't you worry about the numbers. We have prepared the exact number of eggs that will suffice all of you with some extras. But of course, the fastest there wins. So best of luck to you all and have a fun egg hunt! The hunt will start in three...two...one...GO!"
The shrill sound of a whistle being blown rang in my ears and I can feel March's hand grab mine and pulled me towards the gardens. I bet he's doing that not to lose me in the hubble and rubble of the crowd. So instead of wriggling free as usual, I decided to embrace the touch this time and giggled as I followed his directions.
First, we went to check the water fountain area. It's a rather large circular area with, well you guessed it, a massive marble water fountain in the middle. The water fountain is one of those bowls stacked on top of the other ones with a curled up fish at the top spouting crystal clear water. Inside these bowls, both March and I spotted a handful of eggs each. Not only on the fountain. Around the area is a line of marble benches. Underneath these benches are also a handful of eggs to grab.
After that, we went to the horse stables. Inside the stables, around the stables, on the horses and underneath the horses, the eggs are everywhere. So is the outskirts of the woods, the strawberry bushes, the citrus grove, the acorn lane, the crystal lake and the bird zone. Finally, the garden is thoroughly searched and we returned to the building, our wicker baskets are filled to the brim with chocolate eggs. After resting for a while inside the building, March had the brilliant idea to have a nice chocolate egg picnic. Packed with nothing but the chocolate eggs from the hunt and chocolate bunny cookies from the breakfast table, we headed towards the strawberry bush and sat at one of it's benches.
"Now don't do anything stupid, alright." March warned me as he plucked a couple of berries and stuffing them in his wicker basket.
"Don't worry, I've learned my lesson." I reassured him and cracked my chocolate egg open. Unlike normal easter chocolate eggs, our school had them filled with surprise flavors. "Yum, raspberry jam." I licked it off.
March giggled and take a bite of his. "Hm, honey."
"What?!" I nearly choked on my chocolate egg.
"What?"
"What did you just say-"
"N-no, I-I meant I got honey as the uh...as the...inside thingy what are they called? Ah, yes. Fillings! I've got honey for the fillings." March stammered.
"Ah, common misunderstanding." I cleared my throat and looked away, severely blushing.
"It's okay." March looked away too.
"Want to exchange eggs and see what we get?" I offered.
"Sure."
We exchanged a couple of our eggs. "Nuts and chocolate paste." I licked my tongue after taking a bite. "Yours?"
"Strawberry and cream. Fluffy and light." March take a couple more bites from his egg. "Nice set of flavors you got there."
"Yours are also rather chocolatey."
"I guess so. Let's see if I can find some tiramisu in here."
"Well, while you're searching, I do hope you won't mind if I catch some unfinished sleeps." i stretched my arm muscles.
"Sure. I'll wake you up when it's lunch?"
I put my thumbs up, leaned back on the white washed bench and slept almost immediately. For a brief second in my half awareness, I can feel myself slowly tumbling to the right. The side where March sat. I had a weird feeling that I'm currently sleeping at his shoulder but that wouldn't happen right? I've done sleeps like this before without leaning into someone else. must've been some pre illusions before the actual dream began. i wave the thought away and enjoyed my dream of riding a massive snowy white bunny above the pinkish clouds.
