When she pulled up to her house, she was a bit confused to find Rosalie's car sitting in her driveway. "Why is Rosalie here?" She muttered to herself as she climbed out.
When she walked in, she heard Charlie talking to someone and...laughing? She peaked around the corner into the kitchen and was honestly surprised to see Jasper.
"Jazz? What are you doing here?" She asked, confusion lacing her tone.
Charlie looked up at his daughter, then to the young male sitting across from him. "He was dropping off your assignments." Charlie explained.
Jasper nodded. He looked stiff, like he was uncomfortable, but it seemed like his posture was relaxing a bit. "I was a bit worried when you didn't come to school." He admitted. "You look well, though."
She was a bit taken back by this. "I'm fine, I just took a mental health day and hung out with my friend." She explained. She felt kind of bad for making him worry like that. "Um, sorry for making you worry."
Charlie cleared his throat, looking between them once more. "Well, I have to get to work." He stood up, kissing the side of Gabby's head. "Remember to be safe when going out, and stay outta the woods. Too many animal attacks for my liking."
Gabby gave her dad a side hug, nodding. "I will dad. Stay safe."
"Always am." He grunted out as he left.
Gabriella looked over to Jasper and smiled. "You didn't have to come all the way over to bring my work."
Jasper offered a shy smile. "That was just a clever cover up, to make sure you were safe." He had this pit in his stomach the whole time he was at school. Not knowing what was going on or if she was hurt, it drove him crazy. He had made through barely half a day then spent the other half annoying Emmett with his anxieties.
When Charlie had told him that Gabby had decided to take a day off from school to spend time with a friend, it had made him feel a little better. When she walked through the door, it was like every bit of anxiety, worry and stress melted away. Listening to the steady sound of her heart was comforting instead of usually driving him crazy, it was soothing him.
"Next time I skip, I'll let you know." She teased lightly, laughing at the flustered expression he gave her.
Her smile and her laughter. God if his heart could beat, it would be racing at just the sight. That thought seemed to strike a nerve in the back of his mind. It was difficult for him to push her away, but in his mind it kept her safe.
He stood up and offered a strained smile. "I should get home now. I'll see you around, Gabriella." Before she could protest or say anything else, he walked away.
The gesture made her feel like she had been punched in the gut. She frowned and grabbed her assignments, heading to her room to finish them.

Gabriella hummed softly as she sat on the steps leading up to the school. She had decided to wait on Jasper and Alice since they were in her first class.
She stood up when she saw the Cullen clan pull in and park. Greeting each of them as they walked by, she smiled especially bright when she saw Alice and Jasper.
"Morning, Ali, Jazz." She greeted cheerfully. That's when she noticed Alice had an almost apologetic expression as Jasper just kept walking. He didn't even glance in Gabriella's direction.
Her heart sank, that same feeling of being punched in the gut returned. "Sorry, Gabby, he's...in a mood." Alice wasn't sure what to tell the poor girl. Jasper had his reasons and though Alice didn't agree, it was his life.
Gabriella almost felt like crying, but she didn't. Her smile faded though, replaced with a somber expression. "It's fine. Come on, before we're late." The two girls linked arms, making their way to class.
It was like that for the rest of the day it seemed. Any time Gabriella was around, Jasper would ice her out and at lunch he moved away from the table completely.
When she finally got into her jeep, she allowed a few tears to fall as she tried to figure out what she had done to make him angry with her.
She hated this feeling.
