Gabriella groaned softly as she finally was able to pull herself out of the darkness in her mind. She turned her head and noticed the wall was one big window, overlooking the forest.
"Well, good to see you're awake." Carlisle spoke as he walked into the room. They had changed one of the spare rooms into a makeshift medical room for Carlisle to take care of Gabby. "You got a mild head injury, no concussion, your arm is broken and you have a few cracked ribs."
She tried to sit up, but it only resulted in her yelping in pain and Carlisle easing her back down. That was the first time she noticed how cold his hand was even through her clothes.
"You shouldn't move around so much, Gabby." Alice's cheerful voice filled the air as she walked in. "You're safe here and we've already got Charlie up to speed. He's worried, but he knows you're in good hands."
Gabriella looked at them, confusion dancing in her eyes for a moment before the memories came flooding back. A man had ripped opened the top of her jeep. He had dented in her hood like it was nothing then threw her around like a ragdoll when she had tried to run.
The only thing that really stayed in her mind about the man, were his bright red eyes.
They had chilled her to her very core when she looked into them.
"T-There was a man." She finally managed to speak. "It was a man, he had red eyes. How did he have red eyes?" Panic laced her voice, tears building in her eyes and she began to tremble.
Carlisle and Alice looked at each other. Alice gently took Gabby's good hand in both of hers. Alice's hands were just as cold as Carlisle's. "Gabby, I need you to pay attention to what I'm going to tell you. Okay? I also need you to know that you are safe here and nobody is going to hurt you." She waited for Gabriella to nod her head before she continued. "That man that attacked you, was a vampire. I know it's hard to believe, but it's true. My family and I are vampires too, but we're different than most of our kind because we don't take from people. We only ever feed on animals."
Gabriella let that all sink in, but it really made sense when she really thought about it. She had always had this feeling that the Cullen clan wasn't what they seemed. This confirmed it. "Vampires..." she repeated. "I believe you Alice. I trust you with my life."
Alice smiled and placed a gentle kiss on her friend's hand. "I'm so happy, Jazz and Carlisle got to you in time." She could see tears glazing over Alice's eyes. "Do you want me to go get him?"
Gabriella wanted so bad to say yes, but she shook her head. "Not right now, at least. I just need time."
The door opened up and Emmett peeked in, a grin on his face. "Hey! Little bit! Still kicking I see." He joked as he walked in the room. "You're a tough little thing, aren't ya?"
"Emmett, I told you not to bother her." Rosalie scolded him as she walked in behind him. She looked over to the brunette. "Though, we are glad that you're still around and kicking."
Gabriella couldn't help but smile, tears running down her face. There was so much love in this room, she couldn't held the tears.
Alice smiled and held the girl as she cried. "It's okay. I promise you're safe with us." She shushed gently.
