Chapter 3

Dax is led next to Selene watching her sleep peacefully, he can't help but smile as he admires his mate. He has waited for this day since the day he turned. He kept himself pure just for her, he wanted them to be their first and only. He loves that she smells of his favourite scent and that she has the strength of a thousand wolves inside her. He knows she has endured a lot, part of him not wanting to know because he will kill and the other part wanting to know so he can kill. He feels her shift and curl into him more his arm going around her protectively, that being the magic of the mating bond. Two strangers feeling at ease once they know the moon goddess chose them for each other. He smooths her face and she snuggles into him more, he can't help the smile spreading across his face.

"I can feel you staring you know"
"Can't help it sorry babe"
"Babe?"
"Yeah. Too soon"
"No it has a nice ring to it"
He chuckles and the two just lie there silently in each others embrace. Selene has never felt this kind of emotion before and she is going to enjoy it.

"Are you hungry?"

"No I will be fine if you want to go and eat"
She turns her body away and opens her eyes and then closes them. Truth is she has got used to eating a little amount every day if she was allowed to. Dax sits up and leans over her and rolls her to face him.

"Selene did they starve you?"

"If I misbehaved which could be for any reason"
He growls and she goes into the fetal position. Dax immediately lifting her up and putting her on his lap she keeps her head down low and he gently lifts her head up, his finger gently pressed under her chin.

"Babe I wasn't growling at you. I hate what they have done to you"
"Dax you only feel that way because of the bond"

"No I would feel that way if you were no my mate. No one should have to be put through that but the fact you are my mate makes me a thousand times more angry"
The sound of knocking on the door as her going to move but he holds her in place. He gets up holding her and unlocks the door before going back to bed. He only turns around so she is facing the door but still on his lap. He puts the covers over her bare legs and shouts come in. The door opens and Eleanor, Broderick, Harlow and another girl walks in. When she sees Selene she gasps.

"Damn our Luna is beautiful"

"Sorry about her. Selene this is my mate Amara"
Selene blushes and Dax chuckles pulling her against him more. Broderick closes the door and the four stand there.

"Selene we have packed up your belongs but we couldn't find the rest of your clothes?"
"Well I only had two sets of clothes. I wasn't allowed more than that and they had to last me the year."
Selene feels embarrassed and puts her head down, Dax kisses her neck and tries to compose his anger.

"Don't worry babe we can take you shopping when we get back to the pack house."
"I can get you some clothes to wear until then Selene."
"Me too."
Selene lifts her head up and looks at the two and frowns.

"You don't have to do that."
"We want to. Besides Dax will rip peoples throats out if you walk around naked."
Selene's eyes go wide and she looks at the four laughing.

"Good point. Thank you I appreciate your helping"
"Anytime"
Selene smiles and then she feels an itching on her forearm, she groans and tries to move off Dax.

"Babe what's wrong?"
"My arm"
Is all she gets out, Dax leans forward and rolls the sleeve up, the five gasping as they see a pink flame engulf her arm.

"What the hell is happening"
"It is the other mark. Fuck me why does it hurt this bad. Storm I swear there better be no more"
She can hear her wolf chuckle as she rolls off Dax and buries her head in the pillow biting it to stop her screaming holding her arm out, trying anything to ease the burning.
