Chapter 8

If Selene thought being here would make her feel less lonely, she was wrong. It has been two weeks since she found Dax and the past week he has been so busy she has hardly saw him. She knows he has a business but she feels like she is just living in a bigger more expensive cage. She has only known him two weeks but she has gotten used to him being there every night she falls asleep but tonight he is still not home at gone midnight.

Selene stands and goes to get a hoodie and her trainers on and leaves the house walking into the woods and to where there is a crystal blue lake. She sits down and hugs her knees to her chest. Even with the entire pack there she feels like she has no one to truly talk to. She is scared of what is going to happen to her and she has to keep it locked in.

"Master are you okay?"
"I feel so alone Storm. I don't think I can do this"
"You can do this. You are so strong. You have to believe in yourself"

Selene just shuts her out, right now she doesn't know what is going on with her. She just knows that she feels lonely when Dax is away. If this is how it is going to be for the rest of her life she isn't sure if she can cope. What gets to her more is that none of the other pack members get to be without their mates. She is the only one.

Selene sits there for another hour before heading back to the house. When she gets to her room Dax is there asleep. Clearly coming home to her not being there didn't bother him that much. She gets undressed and gets in her side of the bed and hugs the pillow her back to Dax. She lies there staring at the wall for twenty minutes when she feels Dax turn over and his arm draping over her.

"I love you baby girl"
Selene doesn't speak she just sings the lyrics to run bts over and over so that he won't hear her real thoughts. If he cared he would of knew that she was feeling lonely. She closes her eyes and pretends to be asleep.

Dax sits up and turns the bedroom light on and without warning he picks her up and puts her on his lap. She keeps her head down and it kills him that she is being closed off with him. He has missed her the past week and he knows she is hiding her real emotions.

"Baby girl look at me"
"Daxon I am tired. Plus you need to rest"
She climbs off him and lies back down and cuddles back in.

"Really your going to ignore me. I haven't seen you all week and you come home from god knows where and you can't even look at me."
"Dax leave it"
"No I have fucking missed you and you cant even be bothered to talk to me"
She growls and gets out of bed. She puts the hoodie on and he looks at her.

"Now your leaving?"
"yes before I fucking castrate you. I mean don't fucking insult me Dax with the whole bullshit of how you miss me. You fucked off came back later than the rest of the pack and then have the nerve to make out like I am the one closing off. At least you haven't been stuck on your own for a fucking week wishing that your so called mate would come home earlier like the other mates did for their girlfriends. Fuck sake if this is how it is going to be all the time you should of just left me in the fucking cell."
She walks out of the room and goes to the kitchen and starts to get things out of the cupboard. Dax walks in and goes to her wrapping his arms around her, he turns her around and lifts her up onto the marbled kitchen counter.

"Baby girl I am sorry I haven't been here"
"Dax it's fine I get it. You have a lot of important things to do. Just go back to bed"
He lifts her head up and he can see the tears in her eyes. Shadow saying I told you so.

"Shadow leave it"
"No. I told you she would be affected by you being away. You didn't listen now our mate is upset"
Selene gently pushes Dax back and jumps down off the counter and Dax takes her hand pulling her to him. He lifts her up and carries her back up to bed. When he gets into bed with her he cuddles her against him pulling the blankets over them.
