Lloyd had spent time mulling over what Autumn had said, and it hit hard.
He'd broken her.
Torn down the walls that were built and held against him for long enough before they crumbled.
She had practically told him that she'd rather be dead...
He sat in the surveillance room with his whiskey to hand, not flinching as the team he deployed executed the target on screen. "Nice job..." Was all he said through his earpiece, "Return to headquarters".
Sitting back he now snapped his fingers to catch the tech's attention. "You...yeah you, switch the camera to my home and then get out".
The tech did as asked and then retreated quickly, Lloyd watching his wife while she finished tending to Margot, and then heard her sigh. He zoomed in on her face.
No light.
No smile.
Nothing.
"I wish your daddy understood me..." He heard her tell their daughter quietly. "You are the only person I can talk to. No one wants know me, even Tammy was scared off...I knew her husband would tell her to keep away from us..."
He'd seen and heard enough, calling one of his guards in and switching back to the main surveillance of town. "Go get my wife the most expensive bunch of flowers that you can find, then tell the chef to be at my house for 6pm - if they've got a teddy bear or something there then grab that for my kid, got it?"
The guard nodded and walked out.
Lloyd switched the cameras back to his home, watching his wife. "Let's make you feel like a special little autumn leaf.

"Honey! I'm home!" Lloyd sang as he walked through the door
Autumn slowly came out from the living room, "You're early, I haven't started - oh..." She now saw the large bouquet of flowers he was carrying. "Are those for me?"
"Who else would they be for?" He asked handing them to her and then kissing her gently.
"I...I don't understand, what have I done to deserve these?"
He looked at her. "I thought about everything you said the other evening, you're right. Auty it's my job to make you feel safe and loved and that's what I'm gonna do. I thought about what could happen if you weren't here. Margot needs her mother, and I need my wife...I wanna make things right, try harder. Around others? I can't be that person, but around you? I can be". He said and now got something out of his pocket. A box, opening it to reveal a silver bracelet with a single silver leaf charm hanging from it. "For my Autumn leaf..."
Autumn swallowed. "You didn't have to do all this". She told him quietly.
"No, I did. It needed to be done. After what you said it opened my eyes finally". He told her. "I wanna give you and Margot the whole damn world. I wanna be better for her and for you".
"What you said though? It hurt me...you hurt me, physically and mentally..." She told him. "I'm still far from achieving my goal"
"Fuck the goal Autumn, I love you!"
She stared at him in shock. He had told her many times, sure, but this time it rang clear, even if he'd never once lied to her.
"You think I don't have days where this place drives me insane? Coz it does, it really fucking does, but coming home to you and Margot? It's the best damn thing I've ever felt, and I never thought I could feel this way".
She literally dropped the flowers as she kissed him, needing to feel the connection between them of there was one. "You really mean it?"
"I do". He told her as he toyed with some hair. "I've got someone coming in to make us dinner tonight. Go make yourself gorgeous".
"Ok". She told him, heading upstairs to put something on that he'd like.
Lloyd smiled to himself and then headed to the nursery, seeing Margot lying there in her cot. "C'mere little pumpkin, you miss daddy today?" He asked, "coz I missed you". He told her, "and daddy brought you the biggest teddy bear he could find, it's gonna be here tomorrow so when you get older you can literally wrap yourself in a hug with it". He carried on, "you and your mother? You're not just any old project - you're my project - damn if my family could see you now? Even they'd be speechless".
He held her tiny little body close to him as she gurgled away. "Anything I do? Everything I give to this? It's all for you Princess - you're gonna have everything I never had".
Autumn now came into the room, seeing Lloyd cradling Margot and smiling to herself before she made her presence known. "She misses her daddy when he's working, she'd like a few days where you're here, even if you are in the office".
"We still talking about Margot or you?" He smirked at his wife.
"How about both?" She asked, coming up next to him and admiring their daughter. "But it would be nice though, I wouldn't feel as lonely maybe?"
He leant down and kissed her, "for you snickerdoodle? I think that can be arranged, especially if I need a working lunch". His eyes were feral. Just the thought of him fucking her over his desk was making him go crazy. Especially if he was in the middle of watching his team eliminate a target.
Anything to keep his little autumn leaf happy.
