"Percy, wait." Annabeth cried as she chased after him.

"No, Annabeth. I need to get away from you." Percy shoved on a coat that was hanging in the foyer and slammed the front door on his way out.

Annabeth turned to grab her bags when she was met with Peyton's emerald green eyes.

"What was that all about?"

"I've been fucking my professor to pass his class." Annabeth pinched the bridge of her nose as she tried to grab her bag from the room in the back of the house.

"What!? Beth, that's badass. I never took you as someone who would do that."

"Yeah, there's a lot you don't know about me, Peyton." Annabeth disappeared into the back room before returning with her suitcase in hand.

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"It means I should just go back to New York before this gets any worse."

"New York? Beth—"

"Peyton." Annabeth sighed. "Can I ask you something?"

"Yeah, anything, you know that." Peyton pulled Annabeth into their room.

"Can you tell me again why you hate people dating your brother?"

"He's shallow, doesn't think twice, no good, playboy, who just uses them and I don't like seeing my friends hurt."

"Would you end a friendship with someone over it?"

"Beth, I don't like where you're headed with this...."

"Please."

"Depends on if they asked me or not." Peyton took Annabeth's hand.

"So if I were to start dating Percy, assuming he's even interested in me, you wouldn't end our friendship but let's say, we've been dating for about two years, you would?"

"I don't see why the second one is a question, it's pretty hard to hide a relationship, Beth." Peyton chuckled, swinging their hand with Annabeth's.

"Peyton."

"You're joking."

"Obviously." Annabeth chuckled, trying to diffuse the tension that had built up.

"But, yeah, I'd say we couldn't be friends anymore if you've been dating my brother for like two years and didn't tell me— like, who would do that? That's just being a shitty friend."

"Exactly." Annabeth laughed and pulled her crop top down a bit.

"Remember when Piper didn't tell me about her and Jason?"

"Yeah, but that one, you have to admit, was a little much on your part."

"Oh, yeah for sure, but that was still shitty of her."

"Because Jason's your cousin?"

"Because friends should tell each other everything."

"So then why aren't you mad about me not telling you about my professor?"

"I don't know your professor. I only know you, and I've known you for a long time. I know you don't do stuff like that unless it's absolutely necessary. You've always been very meticulous in your actions, like the entire world is a chess game, and you've already checked everyone."

"Who knew you knew so much about chess." Annabeth laughed, pulling Peyton into a hug. They smelled like Percy's oceanic cologne, or what Annabeth had thought was a cologne that he'd had since she met him... at the age of seven.... "We should go find Percy though, he'll get lost, and as much as I'm skeptical about you two, he's still my brother."
