Harry's POV

'WE AWAIT YOUR OWL BY NO later than 31st of July. Yours sincerely, Minerva Mcgonagall, Deputy Headmistress.' Harry finished reading his brother's letter, and looked up at him in a considerable state of disbelief. Percy's face mirrored his, and Harry snorted.

'So I get to go to magic school.' Percy said, bluntly.

'Yeah...' Harry said. 'I suppose you do. Well, we'd need to get your things, first. There's a list of equipment and books and stuff that comes with the letter.'

'Like what?'

Harry thought for a moment. 'You'd need your wand, obviously. Ollivander's is the best place for that. You're going to need a cauldron, and different types of textbooks. They're all listed here.' He held up the list. 'And you can get an owl, a cat or a toad – though those are optional.'

'Oh, okay. Owls hate me, though. I'm not gonna get one of them. Toads are a little slimy, but they can live underwater, which is fitting. Maybe a cat. Maybe a toad. I dunno.' Percy ranted. 'When does school start?' asked Percy.

'Hogwarts students start on the 1st of September, and right now it's- What's the date?'

'August 23rd.' Percy announced, before pausing in deep thought. 'You said I had to write a reply back. The deadline was around a month ago.'

Harry's jaw dropped open at Percy's remark. 'I think the letter came a bit late.'

Percy mock gasped, placing a hand to the centre of his chest. 'No. Really. Where'd you get that idea?' he replied, his face drooping in a sarcastic manner soon after.

'You've still got to write a reply, although it's technically overdue. Since the letter arrived later than usual, they'll probably forgive you.' Harry suggested.

'Probably?'

'Possibly. Maybe. With a detention to make up for it.'

'But it's their fault!'

Harry sighed in sympathy. 'Yeah, it is. Welcome to school, mate.'

'Right.' said Percy. 'And that leaves me with, like, a week to get my stuff.'

'Yep.' he confirmed.

Percy drummed his fingers on his knee to no particular rhythm. 'So, where... Where do we buy all of it? And I only brought two dollars and seventy-six cents, last I checked.'

'Oh, that won't matter. You can access the Potter vault in Gringotts for wizarding money.'

'What, with shillings and sixpence?' he joked.

'Knuts, Sickles and Galleons. Trust me, mate, we've got quite a lot! And there's this place – Diagon Alley. Practically every British wizard goes there to shop for potion ingredients, wands, brooms, stuff like that.' Harry said, grinning from ear to ear. 'The entrance to it is actually at the back of this pub. We can go tomorrow, if you'd like.'

'Alright. So, should I stay here for now?

Harry glanced around the room. 'There's probably a spare mattress in here somewhere.'

Percy shrugged. 'I can take the couch... if there's a couch.'

Percy's POV

'Woah.' Percy stood staring at Diagon Alley, dozens of witches and wizards pushing their way through.

'I know, right! The first look is always the best. Just wait 'till you see Hogwarts!' Harry told him.

Percy blinked a few times, then turned to his brother. 'What's the first thing on the list?'
