Percy's POV

PERCY BOUNCED A FOOT OUT OF his chair. An intense feeling of dread bubbled in his chest – after all, it wasn't an every-day occurrence to have your twin brother screaming at you to shut up in your mind. Was Harry alright?

'Hey, Percy! What's the matter?' Marcus was now leaning over to him from the couch, his eyes so wide that you could see a ring of white all around them. Some other Hufflepuffs stared at him from the other side of the common room. 'Are you having a stroke?' he asked.

'Oh, it's nothing. I'm fine. Just... thought I saw something.'

Marcus shrugged and returned to his studying. Percy turned his attention back to Harry.

Dude, are you good?! Percy hissed, in his head. You just yelled to shut up.

The fierce panic subsided. No, No! Harry replied. I'm just a bit stressed, that's all. It's nothing.

Percy ignored him. I jumped so badly in the middle of the common room! Everyone thought I was having a seizure! Percy hastily scanned the other students. Oh gods, some of them are still looking at me across the room.

I was arguing with myself, Percy. 'S no big deal. Harry said.

Percy scoffed. First sign of insanity, folks. Are you sure you're alright?! He asked again, wishing that his brother were with him, so that he could give him the death stare.

I'm fine. Harry said. Too quickly.

Percy still didn't believe him, but he decided not to push. Good. Just checking.

He read the clock above the fireplace, which read 10:13 P.M. It's around ten fifteen, so I'm going to leave in a bit for Camp. Just so you know.

Okay. Good luck. Harry said, and Percy shut off the connection.

Harry was lying. Percy could tell from the way his voice shook, and from the way he was breathing. Percy stood up, ignoring the others' worried looks, and opened the door to his dormitory.

Percy's head hit the pillow, and he heard the satisfying pfff as all of the air was squeezed out. He stayed in that position for what he estimated to be ten minutes, before sitting up and kneeling next to his belongings.

He fished around among his clothes and other items, and dragged out a small pouch of drachmas he brought from camp. Shutting himself in the dorm's bathroom, he turned on the tap and willed the water to make a rainbow. He slightly smiled to himself – he hadn't done that for a while.

'O Iris, goddess of the rainbow,' he started, 'please accept my offering, show me Annabeth Chase, probably at Camp Half-Blood.' Percy threw the drachma into the mist, where it vanished without hitting the mirror at all.

Annabeth's face appeared, and evening sunlight from Camp shone into the Iris Message. As Percy had predicted, the campers had absolutely nothing to do – so, inevitably, Annabeth was curled up on her bed with her nose buried into an ancient Greek book.

'Annabeth.' he sung, already knowing the drill. 'Annabeth...'

Percy checked out of the door one last time. 'Spider!' he yelled into the IM. Annabeth's book flew out of her hands, and she pulled a dagger from the sheath strapped to her thigh. Her eyes darted around before landing on Percy, who cocked his head to the side.

'Percy!' she said, accusingly, slipping her dagger back into its sheath. 'You could have just said my name or something! You don't always have to get my attention by shouting "spider" in my face.'
