Gemma woke up to a gentle hand shaking her.

She cracked open her eyes and spied the dim face of her dad.

For a second, she panicked, DID SHE SLEEP IN?!

Her breathing quickened, signalling her distress, but her dad shook his head, "No, no. I just woke you early. Come along...Get dressed; I'll take your things downstairs."

Why her dad had her get up at the ungodly hour was beyond her, but Gemma was too sleep-drunk to question him.

She grabbed her first-day outfit (cut-off jeans, a purple sweater, a black tank top, and Doc Marten boots) and moved to the bathroom.

She woke up a little more as she packed up her necessities from the cabinet and then really woke up when she grabbed her hair-potions case, opening it to spy the single vial of bubble-gum pink potion waiting for her to use.

She had been saving it for a special occasion.

Gemma grabbed her things, picked up Scotch, who was waiting for her on Gemma's bed and snuck out of her room.

She padded down the stairs, careful to avoid Mrs. Black on the wall as she did so.

She placed her things on her trunk, tucking Scotch into the little carrier she had procured that summer for him, and moved to the kitchen.

When she entered, it was only her, Tonks, Sirius, and her dad.

She furrowed her brows and whispered, "Why the bloody hell am I up so early?"

"Language," Her dad said from across the room.

"Fine. Why the hell am I up so early?"

Her dad snickered before waving to the table, "Go on. Your birthday breakfast is almost ready."

Gemma dropped across from Sirius, glowering at the dark window, and muttered, "I hate the mornings."

"You and me both..." Sirius rubbed his eyes.

"Then why are we here?"

"Because your dad has some gifts for you, Gemothy," Tonks shot back at her.

"Why the heck do you call me that?"

"Because it annoys you."

Gemma gave her a hard look until her dad placed a plate of waffles in front of her, and then she sat forward and said, "All is forgiven."

Her dad kissed her head, "Figured." He sat next to her, a cup of tea in front of him. He let her eat and chat a little bit before he nodded at the small pile of gifts in the middle of the table. "Go on."

"Open mine first..." Tonks stretched forward, almost flat on the table, as she scooted her purple-paper wrapped gift to Gemma.

Gemma giggled, "Okay."

Tonks sat up, leaning forward on her elbows, her hair changing to a sunshine-yellow shade as she watched with bright eyes.

Gemma opened the paper quietly and pulled out a small cd, and she had to stop herself from screaming, "How did you get this?!"

It was a signed Weird Sisters cd addressed specifically to her.

Tonks grinned madly, "I have connections. You also have VIP tickets the next they come into town, which is around your birthday next year."

Gemma jumped up from her seat and rushed around the table, strangling her with a hug, "Thank you sooooooooo much!!!!"

Tonks embraced her back, kissing her head before Sirius scoffed and said, "Enough of that! My turn!"
