Love is a pain, but past that it's a blessing

Hi readers! Hope my last chapter didn't effect you so much. Who ever it is or what ever they have done, we don't need to hate them. Everything will go well, if you wait for the right time. Hope you are all doing well. Enjoy the chapter.

Author's pov :-

Laila takes Alice to her house. Because her parents already knew about them, Laila knows that they will support them no matter what. Laila explains what happened with Alice's parents.

Alice: I'm sorry aunty. I couldn't do anything when my mom was hurting Laila.
Laila's mom: first, call me mom and second, it's not your fault and third, I know you didn't mean any of this to happen.
Laila: thank you mom.

Both Laila's mom and dad welcome Alice into their family, as their own daughter.

Alice starts to hate her mom. Alice's mom never showed Alice any love, she never told Alice that she was proud of her. She was always cold towards Alice, but Alice understood her way of showing love. Now, Alice is not sure anymore.

Laila and Alice borrow some money from Laila's parents and buy a apartment for themselves. They become busy with their jobs and pay off the money they have taken from Laila's parents.

After some months :-

Alice is in her office, she gets a call from Laila.
Alice: hi! Laila.
Phone: I'm not Laila. I'm her colleague. Laila is in the hospital.
Alice: which hospital? I'm coming.

Alice rushes to the hospital and to Laila's room. When she opens the door, Laila is still unconscious and her colleague is still talking with the doctor. Alice rushes to them, hoping it's not something serious.
Doctor: what is your relationship with the patient?
Alice: I'm her girlfriend. What happened to her? Why is she still unconscious?
Doctor: calm down and try to register what I'm saying right now, Laila has pancreatic cancer. It's in the last stage. She doesn't have much time left, maximum of 8 to 11 months. She should have come to the hospital sooner because of the pain, those are the symptoms. I'm sorry, this is all I can do and all you can do is send her happily.

After hearing all this, Alice gets up from her seat and walks to Laila's room with disbelief, without speaking a word with the doctor.
Laila is already awake and as she sees Alice enter the room with teary eyes, she understands that something is wrong with her and she might not have a lot of time left. Alice takes a hard gulp, swallowing her tears. Laila holds Alice's hand and asks her, what happened to me?
Alice couldn't answer her.
Laila: I don't want to have any regrets while leaving this world, please tell me.
Alice tells her everything.
Laila: please don't tell mom and dad.
Alice: you don't want to have any regrets but why are you trying to give it to them?, I will tell them.

Alice goes out of the room to call Laila's parents.

Phone call:-

Alice: hello?
Mom: why do you sound so weak?
Alice: I.....*trying not to cry* is dad with you?
Mom: wait I'll call him.
She calls Laila's dad, saying Alice called her to talk to them.
Mom: he is here.
Alice: can you put the phone on speaker?
Mom: yeah.. *puts the phone on speaker* Alice you are scaring me. Please tell us what happened.
Alice: I..uhm... we....we are in the hos...hospital. Laila...Laila has.....she has pancreatic cancer....
*Crying* she doesn't have much time....
Mom and dad: what? In which hospital? We are coming.

Next day:-

It's early in the morning, Laila's parents traveled all night to the hospital. They find Alice sitting outside the room on a bench, still crying. Both of them run to her,
Mom: it's okay don't cry, where is Laila?
Alice points towards the room and says:
She is still sleeping. I couldn't watch her like that.
Mom: wait here, we'll see Laila and come back.

Both of them enter the room and watch Laila sleeping. They cry in silence. Laila's mom slowly runs her hand through Laila's hair and goes out to control herself. Then she sees Alice crying and walks over to her.

Mom: when did you know about it?
Alice: yesterday, before I called you.
Mom: how much time has she got?
Alice: 8 to 11 months. It's all my fault. I didn't take care of her properly. She didn't tell me that she was in pain. I should have paid more attention to her. It's all my fault.
Mom: *hugs Alice* don't say that honey. It's not anyone's fault. It's her fate.
Laila's dad comes out and hugs both of them and says: we shouldn't think about who's fault it is. We should spend our time with her. Don't cry in front of Laila. Let's give her the best.

They all wipe their tears and slowly go to Laila's room. They all put a fake smile on their faces.
Mom: hey! Good morning.
Alice: did you get a good sleep?
Dad: what do you want to eat for breakfast?

Laila understand that they all her trying to cheer her up. She gives them a small smile and says, I missed you, mom and dad. They control their tears and tell her that they missed her too.
