#5-DISAPPOINTMENT

Alice takes Laila to her house.
Alice: my parents doesn't know about me. They might make things difficult for us. I promise I won't give up. You shouldn't too.
Laila: I won't.
Alice: I .... You... you should wait here. I'll go inside and speak with them. When things are calm, I'll come and take you inside. Please understand.
Laila: it's okay, I'll wait for you.

Alice nervously calls her parents to the hall.
Alice: it's been a long time, I missed you.

Her parents doesn't give any expression and just sit there on the couch.

Alice: I completed my studies and graduation. I got a job.
Mom: good, you shouldn't depend on anyone.
Dad: congrats my dear.
Alice: I need to tell you something. I know it will be shocking for you guys. You might get disappointed in me, but please try to think about what I'm saying from my position.
Dad: it's okay you can tell us anything and we will support you as your parents.
Alice: I.....I.... Uh... I ....I have a girlfriend, we have been together for 3 years. She is really sweet and understanding. I hope you....
Mom: stop! There is no such thing as liking a same gender. It's not a natural feeling. You are talking nonsense. I think that girlfriend of your must have manipulated you for money.
Alice: mom!! Stop! Your daughter is not a fool to get manipulated by others and don't you understand she has been with me for 3 years. We have shared every single thing of ourselves. You think I don't know what kind of person she is or what other intentions she has?
Mom: don't you dare think that I will accept this because of your little talk.
Alice: I don't expect you to accept me, but I thought that atleast you will try to understand me loving someone but you saying that my love is not real. Fine! I'll tell you one more thing, we both are getting married in next 2 months. I'll marry her even if you are there for me or not.
Mom: how dare you? *slaps Alice* I'll see how you'll do it if I lock you up right now. *tries to drag Alice inside *

Alice starts to cry and tries to break free from her mom's grip. She slips and falls down on the ground. Laila, who has been listening to everything, who has been controlling herself not to go in and support Alice, stayed there because of Alice's request. Now she looses her control when she hears Alice cry. She rushes inside and finds Alice in the ground. It breaks Laila's heart to see Alice like that.

Laila: aunty, I'm very sorry, because I won't break up with your daughter. I'm sorry for coming in between both of you. I understand your concern. Don't worry, I'll take care of her and thank you for raising her into a wonderful person.
Mom: who are you to take care of my daughter?
Alice: mom, she is the one I love.
Mom: you have the nerve to say that in front of me?
Laila: what is wrong with saying that you love someone? We both love each other.
Mom: *raises her hand to slap Laila* you...!!

Alice pulls Laila back and her mom misses slap.

Mom: Alice! Stay out of this!
Alice: mom! She isn't your daughter, you don't have the right to treat her like that.
Mom: don't you dare come in between me and this whore.
Alice: mom! I'm ashamed to call you that. How would you feel if someone called me a whore? 
Mom: you both are different.
Alice: how are we different? I'm your daughter and she is also a daughter of someone. She hasn't done anything wrong.

Alice's mom shoves Alice aside and holds Laila by her neck and pins her to a wall.

Mom: what have you done with my daughter?

She starts to tighten her grip and Laila chokes. Then Alice pulls her mom away from Laila and hugs her.
Laila coughs and catch's her breath.

Dad: *to Alice's mom* you have gone too far! Are you trying to kill her? Stop this and talk it out.
Mom: it's past that stage!
Alice: *crying* we didn't come here to fight with you. I thought you will try to understand me. I thought at least you will 'try', because I'm your daughter.
Mom: if you are still my daughter, leave her.
Alice: then I'm done being your daughter. You were never proud me. You never showed me your care. You never told me that you love me.
Laila: Alice stop, she is still your mom.
Alice: no! She is not, not after what she has done to us. I'm sorry for everything.
Mom: get out! Right now!

Both Alice and Laila hold each other and go out.
They hear Alice's mom shouting:
Mom: I don't want to see your faces again. Don't you dare show me your face in this life.

Author: I hope my readers will not make the anger get the best out of them. Sometimes the best is not a good option. What will Alice and Cea do now ?
