Chapter 18 Eve

Eve's Pov

"Hello, Evelyn is this true?" Mom called me early in the morning she sounded so messy.

"What mom, it's not even 6 in the morning. What has happened?" I was still sleepy

It took was so late when I fell asleep after a messy argument with Kai. He was still sleeping on the catch. I saw him through the bedroom door.

"I'm the one to ask you what happened. Did you engage with Kai yesterday? Everybody here is talking about you two. What the heck is this? " Mom was super stressed. I could feel it in her voice.

"Yeah, it was just nothing. Anyway, you all wanted it so we gave it. It's not worth wasting our lives like this in pain and rage. So we decided to engage." I said laying down on the bed.

"But you should have told us Before doing this. At least one of you should remember to tell." Mom tried to convince us that what we have done is wrong but either way, this gonna have the same ending so I didn't care much.

"Okay is Papa mad at us?" I asked sitting on the bed.

"No, or maybe. I don't know he didn't tell much but Marcus seems to be happy. He was talking to your papa until late yesterday" Mom replied.

"Then fine. So don't worry. And until Kai proposed I didn't know he is going to do so. I was also surprised. But since he had been talking about this for a while I just agreed." I tried to be calm as possible.

"We are already at the airport to get you. So prepare yourself Evelyn Marsa. I just can't understand you, fathers and children." Mom declined the call.

At that point, I started to feel so nervous and anxious like never before. I stood up and walked to Kai to wake him up.

"Kai, Kai," I tried to wake him up.

"Hm," he answered me without opening his eyes. In my mind, I was cursing at him FUCK THIS LAZY ASS!

"Mom called me they are abroad to get us. Now get up or else we won't be able to prepare ourselves. We must be careful from today onward." I said in a deeply serious voice. Which made Kai so uncomfortable and anxious just like me.

I'm a liar if I told you that I didn't enjoy making him uncomfortable. I honestly loved it.

Kai jumped off the couch and ran into the bathroom. During his shower, I prepared some toast for breakfast.

I wanted Papa to believe that we were not that comfortable with each other. Because after all, that has happened in the past year we can not look too comfortable with each other. If we look so close we might be under his suspicion.

As Kai finished his shower I also took a fast run. And joined Kai for breakfast.

"Kai we can not act clingy in front of Papa if we did he might find it odd. You know with Lily's incident I swear to him that I would never marry whoever he wants. And now suddenly we got engaged the situation is already fishy." I told to Kai.

"Hm, I know."

he was so concerned about Papa's arrival. It was a visible anxiety.

"Hey. Don't worry if we did our part well he won't find out." I said holding his hand.

"I know I not only worrying about Lily. I worry about you, and our partners as well. We are going to escape. We are going to dump them I feel concerned that will we be able to see them ever again?" Kai was trying to hold his tears.

"Hey, they will change and will let us be together as we wanted to. Okay. Once we got Lily let's talk to them and then only we can come up with something." Though I tried to comfort Kai I also had the same issue in my mind.

We were comforting each other for a long time. And that was a good conversation. We were able to share much about ourselves that we never knew.

In the evening papa and both Kai's parents arrived at the scene. Mom wasn't there.

They looked pretty much surprised when they saw us together sitting on the couch next to each other.

"So Evelyn we must go back and celebrate this engagement for sure." Kai's mother said smiling at Kai.

"Yeah. We can go back if you prepared yourselves to go back with us. What do you think Eve?" Papa asked me and I looked into Kai

He nobbed his head and looked at his parents.

We had two hours to prepare ourselves and I tried to collect as many as necessary things for me since we didn't know how would be things going on at this point.

I put so many clothes into Kais' bag as well. Somehow that moment was filled with many emotions. That made me a little confused as well.

It was 9.30 pm when we left my room. I kind of knew that I'm not going to come here again. So it was a hard moment. Because that room got me through my rough time. It covered me from the outside world. It was my hideout for the past year. YOU WERE SO WARM TO ME.

we got on Papa's private plane to go back home so it was a pretty comfortable flight I must mention. It seemed like Kai's family is so excited about our engagement. While papa seemed to be a little down.

Once a arrived we took separate vehicles to get back home. So then onwards we didn't have any chance to plan or discuss things meaning we had to improvise.

It was a stressful situation but we knew Lily is in our hands. So for the sake of her life, we had to do everything flawlessly.

"Evelyn I can't believe you got engaged to Kai. How dare you? " as soon as I entered the mansion Mom walked to me almost cursing at me.

"Maya let her be. It was a tough day. Let her enjoy her time here. Soon she won't be able to do it." Papa said calmly walking into the mansion.

"Okay. Since you made your choice I won't say anything but ah God I can't understand. Let's go to your room" Mom escorted me to my room like I'm a guest there.

I felt so uneasy when I entered the room. It was a harsh loneliness crossing through my heart. "Lily, it's you right?" I didn't mean to spell it out loud but it happened unwillingly.

"We all miss her. Be strong there is nothing we can do hurting yourself is not an answer." Mom said walking out of the room.

"Did I hurt you? I'm sorry Mom" I said.

"No baby mom is fine. I feel sorry for you." When Mom said so I knew that she also know that Lily is still alive.

Maybe she does not know exactly where she is but surely knows she is alive. Or else she should have broken into tears by the time. All these things made me so sure of Lily's presence though I didn't see her in my own eyes.

I took a shower and tried to grab usable items that we might need whatever the situation we could have to face. I kinda had to prepare for a sudden escape in case. Then I dialed Kai's number when I felt the loneliness was pretty much unbearable.

"Kai" my voice cracked when I called his name.

"Eve are you okay? Why what has happened? Did anyone tell you something?" Kai was concerned, when he heard that I'm about to cry.

"When you ask me like that, it reminds me of our time. I always got scolded by you. Then Lily was the one to comfort me. When students tried to bully me you were always there for me. I can never forget those memories. I wish we shouldn't have to face something like this." I replied.

"Don't cry please, we both know Lily is somewhere good and probably looking for us." Though he tried to comfort me it didn't work out.
