Biafra: The War That Never Ended

"We will run a central system of government in the sense that all rights are equal and we will respect human rights,people culture and religion."

"What will be of Biafra in the next 10years I won't be able to describe it for you to understand and see the future."

"There is every possibility that Biafra will become a world power in Africa considering our human resources and military strength".

"When you see hospitals and roads in Biafra you will be amazed that Biafra has such well structured roads and good drainage system.The city will be beautiful beyond anything you can imagine?".

"All the resources used in developing our country biafra will be made by us and only few resources will be imported for other purposes"

"Forget our geography location and how small we are in the map, your enemy is using it to make you feel less of a human. ( Take Dubai for example ).When Biafra will be achieved those telling you that Biafra is small will be the first to troop in their numbers to occupy your land and become a Biafra citizen there by denouncing their own country's citizenships".

"If you know how prepared our people are for the declaration of Biafra you will be asking me where I got such statistics the time that you were in boarding school. We have been doing alot of work and we have made it a lot easier for you to take over".

"Only referendum will decide whether we want to remain as one Nigeria or biafrans ".

As he played his pieces on the chess board while I was watching as he spoke.

I just wanted him to forget about the Biafra story and go straight to the point as I was only interested and waiting for him to tell me the reason behind my late parents death.

He played his pieces on the chess board as he speaks and then I played mine pieces on the chessboard listening to him.

"The war was an unexpected battle but we withstood them for 3years good years even though we had less manpower, equipment, and support".

"After the war the federal government re-absorbed Biafra into Nigeria on January 15 1970".

"The Nigeria- Civil war led to a great deal of discrimination against the ìgbo people at the hands of other ethnic groups such as ikwere and niger delta".

I wasn't interested in playing in the chess board because the Biafra story is not what I was expecting. But my grandpa continued

"Though we lost over 3 million Biafrans to the war".

I feel very sad that over 3million biafrans were killed by the nigeria government during the Nigeria- civil war.

"The Nigeria- Biafra War is considered a biggest genocide in Africa.where starvation was a problem, economic blockade and destruction of farms, houses,and loss of life's to lack of food".

"And it might surprise you that the British were the one who made the blockage possible and other countries supported them in this genciode against biafrans' '.

I am still wondering why those countries supported them in this genciode against us, despite that we withstood them for 3 good years why Britain,china,france, Russia and other countries supported them seeing the number of biafra dieing or was the government blocking the channel of communication for the Biafra people that is what came to my mind.

He continued speaking as I listened to him

"The Federal Government used international conspiracy to frustrate biafrans from getting support and relief supplies from world power which made us suffer lost during the war".
