I was in pain as tears fell down my eyes as I was looking at my grandpa home as the fire kept burning his home while the two young men were watching as smoke was flying above the sky.
I was feeling sad that my grandpa was not getting a better burial.
Chibuzor was driving and he reached a military checkpoint he paid them money and he continued driving.
While I was in the car moaning the painful death of my grandpa ,I could remember everything my grandpa said.
I could remember everything that happened that day from playing chess to when he hugged me to when he was smiling and when he was coughing and also the great moment he sent me on an errand to buy fish.
I could remember the old memories I had with him when I was going to boarding school, when he was taking care of me when I was sick, When he was telling me stories and the moments we celebrated Christmas and new year.
It was such a beautiful and unforgettable memory but today he is gone and I won't see him again. How would I forget such an unforgettable memory?
Since my grandpa is no more I will be officially addressed as an orphan with no family, no friends just me and Chibuzor In his car.
I don't know how my life would be and how difficult it would be for me about the Biafra struggle because that would certainly be my new life, my new aim and my new goal.
And also I was thinking of how I am going to fulfill the promise I made to my grandpa as tears drop down my eyes.
While I was looking at the windscreen of the car, I knew that I was feeling hungry because since I came back from boarding school I didn't eat. Because of that I was hurriedly waiting for him to get to the place we were going to .
While I was looking through the windscreen here comes another checkpoint he settled them and continue I was disappointed by the number of checkpoint on the road and I believe that the youth should raise up to protest against this excessive extortion by military personnel because it is getting too much and it Is also delaying our trip since I was getting bored I decided to bring out my laptop to watch some interesting movies I got from my friends.
The reason I brought out the laptop was to get rid of the hunger that was disturbing me and then Chibuzor Looked at me differently.
I returned the laptop to my bag while facing him to see what he had to say but he was silent and kept on driving.
He reached the roundabout and looked at me and smiled.
I was curious to know why he kept smiling but to know avail. He was just silent and was focused while driving so I thought maybe he did it for my own safety.
Chibuzor* said
"I know how difficult it is for you to lose your loved one, your parents don't deserve to die, leaving you in this world in pain & sorrow so don't blame yourself, this is what life has to offer".
I was still feeling sad about my grandpa not getting a better burial.
I was wondering why my grandpa would leave me so soon when I needed him the most.
I was silent, looking through the windscreen of the car, I wasn't looking at motorists I was just lost in thought.
Chibuzor Looks at me while driving and said
"My deepest sympathies go out to you, my friend. May you find comfort and peace during this difficult time. Know that I’m here for you".
Everything would be alright he said
