Summary: A twist on Originals S1 (maybe other seasons). Kat's been stuck in the attic for months after she got the cure shoved down her throat. Will Elijah find out and be able to save her?
A/N: Based on a recent dream I had.
It was a beautiful day, as Katherine sat in a wooden chair, human. After the cure had been shoved down her throat, she'd come here for Elijah's help, only to find herself captured by Marcel. Now, for months she'd been here, Marcel using her anyway he could. After learning she was descended from Travelers and had active magic from it, he'd forced her when he could to help him punish witches for doing magic. She didn't want to, though. All of that led up to now. She knew who had been doing magic, but because she always looked out for her true friends, she didn't tell him who was doing magic. Thus why she was even more injured.
Meanwhile, yet again, the Originals were meeting with Sophie. Usually, Jane-Anne joined, but she had a mission to do a certain spell. They both knew that Marcel had Katherine, but they hadn't known where until now. Now it was time to involve the most powerful creatures on the planet.
"You're certain?" Elijah calmly questioned Sophie. He hadn't known Marcel to be Katerina's enemy, after all.
"When it comes to Katherine, I wouldn't lie to you, Elijah. Marcel took her. We were trying to find out where. Now we have the opportunity to know where."
"Why the bloody hell should I care about what happens to Katherine? She's caused a lot of people misery," Rebekah wanted to know.
"You should care. She's human now. There's a million things Marcel could do to her."
"Well, I usually don't care about Katerina, but having her with us would be useful. I can distract Marcel for as long as it takes. The rest of you can rescue Katerina," Klaus admitted and offered.
"Fine. Where is she?" Rebekah asked.
"We're certain that she's in the church attic. Marcel is smart, though. He'll have an invisible barrier up for vampires. It wouldn't be smart for a witch to go there, but I can send Katherine a sign that she's getting rescued. If she's learned yet that she'd descended from Travelers and how to make her magic active, then she can take down the barrier," Sophie explained.
"Well, Katerina's just full of surprises then," Klaus commented.
"Katherine's descended from Travelers? Never saw that coming," Rebekah replied.
"Well, if you had studied her family history instead of despising her for past transgressions, you would know more than you do now. Katerina's father was a Traveler until he stopped practicing when he married her mother. It's not much of a surprise that Katerina as a human now would have Traveler magic," Elijah informed Rebekah.
Katherine was still injured, seated in the chair, when she saw a leaf appear and float to the floor. Written on the leaf told her that she was being rescued. Since she knew that most were vampires that knew her, she was barely able to finish it because of how injured she was, but she finally succeeded in taking down the barrier. Then everything began to go black for her.
When Elijah opened the attic door, he could see her injured in a chair. Then, upon testing, he found no invisible barrier, so he blurred to kneel in front of her, a hand on the side of her face. Despite leaving her, he never wanted to see her dead.
"Katerina, can you hear me?" he called, but she didn't move or answer.
"Let's get her home. We can help her better there," Rebekah told him, once she got over the shock. Marcel had rules about humans, so seeing how Katherine looked, she wondered what she'd done to royally peeve off Marcel as a vampire.
Elijah got to his feet and gently picked Katerina up. Then they blurred home.
Once back home, Elijah layed her down in his bed, sitting on her bedside, a hand on hers.
Rebekah entered after grabbing a few things, and sat on the right side of her.
"What can I do?" he asked. He couldn't just watch her like this. He had to help.
"Apply pressure to the wound," the blonde instructed, talking about her lower stomach wound, as she assessed the rest of her injuries, as well as her condition. She could hear her shallow breathing, as well as see how pale she was from blood loss. She normally could care less about her, but she felt sorry for Elijah having to see her like this. He loved her. She was sure she'd be okay, but that was if they could get her lower stomach wound taken care of. The rest of her injuries were minor.
When she woke up, she felt weak, but knew she wasn't dying anytime soon. She'd been tended to, which she assumed had been Rebekah's doing, considering she was the only Original that knew a bunch of first aid.
She looked to the left of her to see Elijah seated on her bedside, a hand on hers.
"Welcome back, Katerina," he greeted. Then she saw a very familiar hybrid.
"I'm glad you decided not to die. You're more useful here than as a prisoner," her enemy of 500 years greeted.
She and Elijah looked at him.
"Tell me you're not thinking of using Katerina as a tool in this war against Marcel," Elijah said.
"I prefer to call it as standing by us and helping anyway she can," Klaus replied.
"It's okay. I'm willing to help. Take down a big nuisance. Then see what tomorrow brings," she told Elijah.
She looked at Klaus who gave a smile.
A few days later, after fully healing, she began helping to take down Marcel. Then, a few weeks later, they succeeded in getting the compound and New Orleans back. When they did, Kat moved into the compound with them. If she had a say in the punishment, she would have banished him, but Marcel was welcome to stay, instead. He just had to find a new home to live. Katherine was okay with it though, as long as Marcel didn't try anything ever again.
After a while, Elijah and Kat finally got back together without an issue from Klaus, once their New Orleans enemies were taken care of. And so, they lived as happy as they could in New Orleans, Kat being as safe as she could be in a city like New Orleans. So, they finally got their happy ending together.
