Blair
"Well, look who finally decided to join me. Good morning, sunshine! How was your night?" Bri questioned with a huge grin on her face as I walked into the coffee shop kitchen.
"Good morning. I will tell you all things, but first, coffee."
"Done."
Bri immediately handed me a large cup fixed just the way I like it before she proceeded to drag me upstairs to her kitchen leaving her dedicated and capable staff to the morning rush, which she rarely ever did because Bri is a control freak. "Why are we leaving your kitchen during the rush?"
"Because you need to spill every last detail of your night and the Instagram post that has basically broken the internet."
"Dinner was fantastic. He is an excellent cook. His apartment is gorgeous. We had lots of incredible sex."
"You had sex! I'm so excited for you! So it was amazing? Tell me everything!"
"Thank you for your praise that I finally got laid after I don't even know how long. It was honestly the best sex I've ever had, Bri! I don't think I will ever get enough of him which makes me sound like a hormonal teenager."
"No; it makes you sound like a woman who was ravaged by a sexy as hell pro football player! B, you are like actually glowing right now. You look so happy! The Instagram post is cute. Have you read any of the comments?"
"No! Are they awful?"
"Quite the opposite actually. Your followers are desperate for more and think y'all are the cutest couple ever. Obviously, there are trolls but much more positive than negative. Carly texted me before the kids even left for school asking about the post and why she is just now hearing about this."
"I will talk to Carly later. It's a lot to take in. The blog has added hundreds of new followers as has the Instagram account. Things are all fixing to change aren't they, Bri?" I asked sadly.
"It will be different. You'll be recognized and stopped way more than normal. This will boost your branding immensely though because everyone will want to dress and work with Jax Elliot's new girlfriend. You will be expected to go to all kinds of events and stuff to support Jax too. You are essentially famous by association now."
"As long as the kids aren't dragged into all that, I think I'm okay."
"We'll make sure they aren't."
"Jax promised that too."
"Are you ready to face the world as Jax Elliot's girlfriend?"
"That still sounds so surreal! I guess I'm as ready as I'll ever be."
Bri and I went back down to the coffee shop where she returned to the morning rush while I headed to my usual table to try and compose a blog post but kept getting interrupted by some of the regulars and friends who "just wanted to say hi" but inevitably always lead the conversation to Jax. It was well after noon before I got a break.
"Aren't you miss popular today. My sales have already doubled and the day isn't even over. I've seen every regular and almost every mom from the PTO twice."
"I haven't been able to write a single sentence for the blog because everyone suddenly wants to stop and chat. I'm glad for your boosted sales, but I guess writing and working here may not be possible for a little while until this all dies down."
"Just use the apartment upstairs. I don't want to not see my best friend just because she is now too famous to mingle with the commoners," Bri teased.
My phone rang just then, and I dug it out of my purse seeing that it was Jax. "Hi."
