Blair
We got back in late Saturday night, and Jax decided to stay at my house. I still couldn't wrap my head around the fact that we were actually engaged. Every time I caught a glimpse of the gorgeous ring on my left hand, I couldn't help but smile and get butterflies in my stomach.
The house was dark and quiet when we got there since the hour was late and the kids were asleep, as was my mom who I knew was in the guest room. Jax and I silently made our way down the hall with our bags to my room and each showered quickly ready to get in bed after long hours of traveling.
"You're right. Your bed is more comfortable than mine," Jax agreed as he got settled pulling me into his arms.
What seemed like only mere minutes later, I heard two sets of little feet come running into the bedroom. "Mom! Jax! We missed y'all!" Hadley Grace exclaimed as she and Cowen jumped up on the bed.
Jax and I sat up groggy but glad to see the kids. "I missed my babies," I told them as I pulled them both to me for a big hug.
Cowen wiggled away and tried to tackle Jax, but before he could, Jax lifted him up in the air making him laugh.
"Did you bring us presents?" Hadley Grace asked with a smile.
"I did."
"Did you see your mom's present I gave her?" Jax inquired lifting my left hand to show the kids my ring.
"It's so shiny! Jax, I'm glad you are going to marry Mommy," Cowen replied sweetly.
"Are you going to be a good big brother to Leena?"
"Duh," he answered making us laugh.
My mom came to the bedroom door just then telling the kids that their breakfast was ready. "I'm sorry they woke y'all. I told them not to."
"It's okay, Mom. Thank you again for keeping them while we were gone. Oh! Come see!" I told her excitedly holding out my left hand.
Mom walked over and smiled at the sight of my ring congratulating us both before herding the kids to the kitchen for breakfast. I laid back down on the bed still exhausted but knowing there was no way they would let us sleep longer. Jax laid back down with me pulling me into his arms and kissing my forehead. I loved when he did that.
"They aren't going to let us go back to sleep are they?"
"Nope," I laughed. "You can escape back to your apartment though."
"No. We're a package deal now; remember?"
We got up and made large cups of coffee before giving the kids and my mom all their surprises we brought back from Greece. We spent the day lounging around the house trying to combat serious jet lag and told my parents and the kids all about the trip.
While we were eating dinner, Jax got a call from his realtor in California about a house that was fixing to go on the market that he thought would be perfect for us based on what we had been looking for and sent over a link to some pictures. "I think this might be the one. Take a look," he said handing over his laptop.
The house was more of a modern farmhouse than the rustic ones of Nashville, but I knew Jax liked a little more modern based on his apartment and the house he sold in California. It really was beautiful though and had more than enough room for all three kids to have their own bedrooms with a common space that could function as a kids' playroom. The back of the open kitchen/dining/living area had a wall of glass doors that opened out onto an outdoor kitchen and living space with a huge fireplace as a focal point. There were two additional rooms for guests and a two bedroom, one bath guesthouse/poolhouse with a full kitchen and laundry room that would give my mom and/or Jax's parents their own space. The pool was stunning with a beautiful waterfall, a slide, a tanning ledge with lounge chairs partly submerged in the shallow water, and a hot tub attached to one side. There was also plenty of green space for a play set for the kids.
