Psalm & Priya

"Hey." Priya's soft voice speaks as she opens the door for Psalm.

She watches as he gives her a head nod and a half smile and steps inside. Slowly she shuts the door behind them before following behind Psalm into the living room. She had taken it upon herself to light a few candles and have calming music playing. Priya knew what Psalm wanted to talk about. The inevitable end of their short rekindling of their flame. She'd done her best to try and get his mind off Kataya but nothing worked. After hearing of him pulling a gun on his own brother behind Kataya she knew she had no chance in winning over the heart she had lost years ago.

Psalm had never acted that way about her. Although jealous, Priya wasn't stupid. She had been his rebound as he worked through his feelings for Kataya and in the beginning she tried to deny it but it's too vivid to deny now.

"I know why you're here...." Priya says. "Just make it quick. Like ripping off a band aid."

"Funny. You always did think you could guess what I was gonna say before I said it."

"Was I right this time?"

Psalm shrugs, looking away from Priya and down at his hands dhat wrre folded in his lap. In an effort to come to turns with the end of he and Kataya for good, he had to be honest with Priya about where they stood allowing her to move on without him holding her back any longer.

"Maybe."

Priya sighs nodding slowly while processing what Psalm had to say.

"You know... I love you I always will. You were my first love, I thought you would be my forever love. But then-."

"Kataya came around."

"No. You cheated. Before I even met Kataya, or did you forget that?"

"I've been trying to... but you won't let me." Priya mumbles.

"That ain't really something you supposed to forget... I never brought it up once we reconnected though. I forgive you.. Can you forgive me for not being able to commit the way you want?"

"I'm trying to. I understand you love someone else. It hurts that we can't be how we use to be... but I get it."

Feeling her heart break into two again, Priya bites back any tears that wanted to slip from her light brown eyes. She had no choice but to accept what was and stop hoping the past would repeat itself when it came to the two of them.

"I think it's best if we don't keep in touch." She speaks out after a few minutes of silence.

"That... I do agree with."

Just like that the short and messy love story of Psalm and Priya rekindled ended... again.
