“You sure you’re going to be, okay?” I asked again as we made our way down my fire escape.
“I’ll be fine Al, you know me, safety is my middle name” I scoffed, that was far from the truth.
“Yeah sure, whatever you say” I could see the plants on my windowsill through the grates of the floor, only two flights to go.
I turned at the sound of a bird squawking, my foot sliding on the metal step and with a shriek I began plummeting downwards, my fingers grazing the banister.
Peter’s hands grabbed my hips and circled my waist, pulling me against his chest with such force that it sent us backwards, slamming him against the stairs as he cradled me against him.
“Oh my god, are you okay?” I panicked, pulling back so I could look at him, he had hit the metal hard, and it must’ve hurt.
He took a few deep breaths, scanning me as I tried to get a look at his back, not letting me out of his grasp.
“What am I going to do with you?” he muttered softly, putting an arm under my leg and began to carry me the rest of the way down, much to my protest.
“Seriously Pete, let me have a look at your back, it could've done some serious damage. And I don’t care about your super healing, you can still get infections and stuff like that” he closed his mouth as he stood in the middle of my flat, watching me rummage in my cupboards for my first aid kit.
“I’m fine, it doesn’t even hurt” he tried but it fell on deaf ears.
“Aha!” I exclaimed as I finally found the bright green box, turning to him
“right, let's get started” he huffed, taking off his mask and running his hand through his hair before pressing the spider symbol on his chest.I watched as the suit loosened, briefly remembering that this was a one-piece.
His back was to me as he shrugged the material off, and I couldn’t take my eyes off his skin, his muscles flexing with each movement.
There were a few red marks just above his ass, clearly from the stairs, and I was glad that it was a lot better than I thought it would be.
“How's it looking, Doc?” he joked, looking at me through his lashes as I swallowed thickly.
He knew exactly what he was doing to me.
“you've just got some red marks, I'll put some cream on them and you should be good” I took out a tube and walked over, squirting a bit of cream onto my hand, and applying it to his back gently.
I felt him flinch at the temperature, apologising.
“you’ve redecorated.” he commented, “I don’t like it”
I gave an exaggerated gasp, grinning widely.
“You watched it?” his head shook as laughter tumbled out of him.
“No, no. I just saw a few clips”
“We will watch it at some point”
“I’ll add it to the list” my thumbs massaged the muscles of his back, trying to even out the cream to the best of my ability, feeling him relax under the pressure. “That feels good”
“I’m a professional” we both snorted at this, and I stepped back, letting him know I was finished.
“Thanks Al” he stretched his arms above his head, his whole-body tensing.
Oh. My. God.
I blinked at him slowly, tearing my eyes away from his body.
That wasn’t leaving my head anytime soon. Calvin Klein boxers burned fresh into my memory.
“Don't mention it”
“Is that me?” he pointed towards a canvas resting by my window, pulling his suit back on.
My face flushed drastically, and I stuttered out nonsense as he investigated further, picking it up carefully.
“This is insane, you painted this? Wow.” I was practically melting into the floor at this point “so this is what kept you up last night.”
“I hate leaving pieces unfinished”
“I had no idea you could do this sort of stuff; you’ve never shown me” his gaze fixed on me, eyes shining.
“I can only do it when I’m inspired to paint. It just flows that way. But something about your face has been nagging at me to get painted, so, voilà” he stared at it in awe for a moment, taking a picture of it on his phone.
“you’ve got real talent Alex”
“Thank you”
“Wait until I show May, she’s going to flip” I chuckled quietly, “have you got anymore?”
And so, Peter and I spent the evening digging through my old are books and even a few of my newer sketchbooks that I had started since moving.
Don’t get me wrong, I tried to be a humble person, but Pete was practically blowing smoke up my ass the whole time.
I just enjoyed his company, and it was nice to look back on old projects and get some fresh ideas, a lot of my art stuff was left at home, I didn’t really need it over here.
Tony called at about 1, asking where Peter was, seeing as he didn’t get notified about him arriving home.
He reminded Pete that he had school and I scolded myself mentally, offering for him to stay the night if he wanted, but he said he’d just swing home, he was meeting Ned on the train the next day.
I told him to text me once he was home, watching him swing away with a smile and a wave.
