Some time passed and a knock sounded at the door.

“Miss Greene? there’s a uh, well, Tony Stark is here and he’s claiming to be an emergency contact?” the nurse said in confusion.

“yeah that’s right” she nodded to herself before she let him in.

“hey kid, how are you feeling?”

“yeah fine, they gave me some medication earlier so can’t really feel anything” he sat on the edge of my bed, studying my stomach where the puffy stiches contrasted against my pale skin.

“What you did was brave, yet incredibly stupid” I couldn’t argue with him on that one. “you could’ve been killed, acting like a hero” I made a face, looking at the clock as I rubbed my chest. That one hurt. I blinked back the tears, hearing him sigh. “I didn’t mean it like that”

“I know” he patted my knee hesitantly as I smiled, feeling my lip twitch involuntarily.

“That girl called, she got home safely, thanks to you. It would’ve gone a lot worse if you weren’t there. What I’m trying to say is that I’m proud of you. But don’t do that again. Ever.”

“no promises” he gave me a look and I laughed tiredly, leaning back. “can we get out of here now? Hospitals freak me out a bit.”

“I’ve got to get the release forms signed but as soon as that’s done, we’re good to go. I think they might even let Arachnid in”

“yay” he left me to my devices for a while and I got comfy under the thin shitty blanket, they did warn me that the pain meds would make me feel a bit drowsy but damn. I needed some of these for when I visit home for my mum, so she couldn’t have to tolerate my dad’s snoring.

Fingers brushed through my hair, and I caught the perpetrators wrist lazily, blinking my eyes open to meet warm brown. I looked towards the closed blinds.

“It’s okay, I’m here as me. Spiderman is off on important business” Peter reassured me, taking my hand, and kissing it softly. “You ready to get out of here?”

“are you kidding?” I sat up, his fingers pulling in my hair slightly. “we got the papers signed off?”

“about ten minutes ago” he chuckled, running his hand down my back. “I bought your favourite” he held up a familiar object and I gasped softly, running my hand over the bright fabric.

“your star wars hoodie?”

“thought it might be cold coming out in just your bra” I snorted, pulling on the hoodie carefully with his help.

“thanks love” I sunk into the oversized hoodie, my bones still soft from waking up. “what time is it?”

“Last time I checked it was about 2? And that was a while ago” the door popped open, and Tony peeked inside.

“great your up, let’s go” he had a coffee in his hand as he waited for us to get up. my front was quite sore, so I was careful not to stretch too far. I was given some cream to help with keeping everything healthy and avoiding infections and all that.

Tony had Jarvis pull up a car outside. The paparazzi had caught wind of Spiderman and Tony being in the same hospital, I just put my hood up and followed them to the car, really not in the mood to be photographed or shouted at to answer questions.

I hissed as I pulled the seatbelt on, pushing the plastic away from my front to prevent it rubbing.

“here” Peter pulled off his sweater so I could tuck it underneath.

“thanks baby” driving home at night reminded me of when I was a kid, coming home from the cinema after a late screening. I rested my head on Peter’s shoulder, feeling his fingers lace with mine as Tony drove us home.

“wait until everyone hears what happened, there’s going to be a manhunt” I smiled, my eyes shut as I listened to the boys talk amongst themselves. If I could, I would fall asleep. But I wasn’t great in transport.

“where the hell have you lot been?” Steve greeted us and I didn’t have the energy to do anything but yawn, stumbling into Peter’s side.

“the hospital” Tony told us to head up and began to explain what had happened to Steve.

“come on pretty girl, time for bed” Pete kissed the top of my head, yawning into his hand as we made our way to, decidedly his room for the night. I shimmied out of my leggings and shoes, keeping the warm hoodie on as my eyes travelled across Peter’s back, getting into bed as he stripped down to his boxers.

“you know I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone with freckles like yours.” I trailed my fingers across his skin, catching each freckle in my path. “so pretty. You’re sure I’m not dreaming?”

“you’re about to be” he gazed at me, honey eyes melting my heart. We just kind of lay, admiring each other for a while in a comfortable silence before his eyes started to droop and I smiled to myself. I tucked myself into him and his hand automatically came to my waist, making sure he didn’t touch my swollen skin.
