I still had to ring my parents, which went smoother than I thought, maybe because Tony convinced them that it looked worse than it was, or the fact he told them that I would be staying at the tower for the next few weeks.
But it didn’t stop them asking me every question under the sun until they were satisfied they had all the answers.
The others advised against telling my parents about the Hydra men, or about the weird gene thing in general, so I left it.
They couldn’t really do anything about it anyways and I was fine with not getting them stressed about something like that.
My mum reminded me to stay hydrated and my dad told me if I wanted to come home I could, I thanked them both before hanging up with an ‘I love you’.
“They took that well” Nat commented as I set my new phone down, leaning back into the sofa, staring up at the living room ceiling.
“Yeah, they’re not usually too fussed unless they know I’m super worried about something.”
“you’re not ‘super worried’?”
“I mean not really; those lads aren’t anywhere where they can harm anyone, and no one is seriously hurt, plus I’m surrounded by you lot, which is reassuring, cause you guys know what you’re doing more than I do.” I explained to Bucky with a shrug, “I’m just thanking my lucky stars that I ended up here”
“That was just heart-warming,” Sam interrupted, and I rose an eyebrow “but I’ve been waiting to order food for an hour, so what does everyone want?”
“Sam” multiple voices hissed, and I couldn’t help but laugh, typical.
We ate and hung out for a bit before people began to disappear to different floors and rooms, settling into their routines whilst I helped Steve put the dishes in the dishwasher, Peter collecting as many glasses as he could carry, and I couldn’t help but pause as I saw him balance one on his head.
“You can do two trips, you know?” he grinned over at me, keeping his head perfectly still as he shuffled our way.
“Now what would be the fun in that?” he flicked his head forward and caught the glass with his now free hand as I handed the rest to Steve.
“Have you two seen that space movie yet?”
“you’re gonna have to be a bit more specific, love” Steve thought for a second.
“The one with the alien?”
“Star Wars?” Peter suggested and I shot him a look which he smirked at.
We tried to guess what movie Steve was on about for a few minutes, not getting any closer with his vague description.
“Interstellar?” he clicked his fingers and pointed at Peter with a look of triumph.
“that’s it!”
“I haven’t seen it, but I’ve heard it’s really good” I made a sound of agreement, drying my hands with a tea towel as I listened to them talk about different space movies, Peter trying to convince Steve to watch Star Wars at some point before we split paths.
“I am creation, haunted and holy, made in glory” I sang softly whilst scrunching my curls into a towel, stepping out of the steamy bathroom to see Peter lying on my bed.
“What song are you singing?” he asked as he typed away on his phone.
“Um I think it’s called creature by half alive, it’s been all over my Tik Tok feed recently” I chucked the towel into the laundry bin “why, like it?”
