Jax
"You were such a baby!" I exclaimed, laughing as I shoved some more cotton candy in my mouth.
"No I wasn't! You were the one the looked like you were about to cry." Michael protested, but joined me in our laughing fit. I shook my head.
"You actually cried!" I pointed out as we continued to walk to our spot. Michael let me wear his flannel, since I was cold.
This date turned out better than expected. My small school girl crush for Michael turned to much more in a matter of days.
Michael pouted. "Oh, shut up."
I giggled and reached out to grab his hand for the fifth time that night. This time, however, he didn't tense. If anything, he squeezed my hand tighter, afraid that if he let go, I'll slip away.
I squeezed right back reassuringly, hoping that nothing would make me drift apart. Will it?
Michael leaned over and kissed my temple, but quickly stopped himself, realizing what he's doing. I blush hard and look down at the ground, keeping up with Michaels pace.
"S-sorry." Michael stammered. I nodded and looked up at him.
"It's okay, I liked it. You make me feel like I'm safe." I admitted softly. Michael broke into a wide grin.
We were reaching our spot sooner than we expected. Michael seemed genuinely happy. I wish I felt like that. I wish I could feel what he's feeling. I want it so bad, but I know I won't be able to grasp that feeling with my own hands. It's as if I needed some sort of key to unlock eternal happiness.
"What are you thinking about, Jax?" Michael asked curiously, taking my mind out of my thoughts.
"Nothing important." I replied nonchalantly and sat down on the sand. Michael stared at me as I waited for him to sit down. "Are you gonna sit down or..?" I trailed off.
"Oh yeah. This isn't our spot though." Michael chuckled to himself and sat down next to me. What does it take to get out of this feeling of disappointment? All I want is to live a happy life. I want to happy, and I feel happy with Michael.
I shrugged and turned towards Michael, seeing he was already looking at me. He smiled once I caught him staring. I smiled back.
I suddenly had a burst of energy and stood up, starting to sprint.
"Hey!" Michael yelled and followed behind me. I laughed as he caught up, wrapping his arms around my waist. I internally squealed.
"Look at that man and that lady, Toby. Maybe when we're older we can be like that." A little girl said to a boy just around her age. They looked around 6. I awed at the sight.
"Why not now?" The little boy said, not pronouncing his words correctly. She squealed as he began to chase her towards the amusement park we just left.
I turned towards Michael, grabbing his hand as my hair swayed back and forth. I began to walk towards the water backwards. Michael smirked and continued to follow me. One foot forward, one foot back. It was like a game. He speeds up, and I find myself waist deep in the water.
"Lady, running down to the riptide." Michael said quietly to himself and laughed. I giggled at his dorky self.
