Elianah was staring at her reflection in the bathroom mirror. The past few days had worn her out. Loki was behaving as if they were friends again: he was teaching her patiently, explaining his methods and how he concentrates his power, making her repeat the energy blasts over and over again, but she was struggling. It was hard enough to hold up the illusion and keep her scars hidden from him, but spending hours in the center of his attention was just too intense for Elianah until she figured out a way to manifest the tension inside her. It happened by accident a day before. Loki told her to try and break free from his chokehold.

'Is this really necessary?' she asked as he stepped behind her.

'You saw how weak your magic was against Cédric. You need to learn to conjure more energy while fighting. Ready?'

'I guess.' she sighed.

'Wrong answer.' Loki said, his arm suddenly wrapped around her neck in a chokehold.

Her training kicked in automatically wedging her hands between his arm and her chin, pressing it down to buy some time. His body was pinned against her back, so she didn't have space to move her hips to the side or use her elbow, nor hit him in the groin.

'You may have eight seconds left before you pass out. You do know that, right?' he whispered in her ear and increased the pressure.

She got angry by how casual he sounded and frustrated by her inability to focus with his body so close to hers. She dug her nails into his arm, sending all that tension into the core of her mind. She felt the air around them polarize and the next moment Loki was knocked off her back, falling on the floor a few feet away.

'That's what I'm talking about.' he smiled and jumped on his feet, flipping his hair back. 'Well done!'

'Jerk!' she huffed, rubbing her neck with her hands.

'What? I did warn you. Let's go again. This time no heads-up.' and he vanished into thin air.

Elianah looked around the basement and sharpened her senses.

'I've never seen demons teleport, just saying.'

'They could send someone after you who can though.' Loki's voice came from her right, so she let out an energy wave in that direction, but it only hit the wall, sending plaster everywhere. 'You missed.' he giggled and kicked her legs out from under her.

'Son of a...' she cussed and jumped back up.

'I haven't even started yet.' he grinned, watching her from a few feet away and hissed whenshe managed to hit him with an energy blast, knocking him against the wall.

'There you are.' she grinned, as he became visible due to the impact, darting towards him.

Loki got up, conjuring his daggers. They were slowly moving around in circles. He jabbed at her shoulder faster than she could parry, pushing her against the wall, pinning her down at the wrists.

'Yield?' he asked with a twinkle in his eyes as they were staring at each other, but she started to wiggle madly, energy pulsing through her body, forcing him to let go. Seconds later he was on his back, one of his own blades at his throat.

'If you want.' she panted, pressing harder, drawing a little blood.

Her eyes were fixed on Loki's in a feral stare. She was so beautiful, sitting on his chest with the dagger cutting into his skin, he could feel his body tensing up with desire. He dropped his other dagger, smiling at her. The sound of metal hitting the floor echoed through the basement, making Elianah flinch. She stood up. Loki let out a sigh that was stuck at the back of his throat and got up, dusting himself off.
