Working on another one, starring everyone's favourite trickster, so stay tuned.

Long chapter, this.

Loki had enough once Thor began to sing with his father. He was in no mood to celebrate after Lestat's stunt and excused himself saying he needed a rest. He could feel the Marquis' eyes on him as he walked out of the dining hall. He wanted to throw him across the table and knock the living soul out of him along with Amel. He couldn't believe Lesat pulled something like this and he was embarrassed for having absolutely no idea he was messing with his head. It felt so utterly real.

He rushed to his quarters and drew himself an ice-cold bath. He was pacing up and down impatiently, waiting for the tub to fill up, then stripped himself naked and submerged under the water. He felt strangely exhausted and wrote it down as the side effect of being mind-controlled by Lestat. He scrubbed himself clean with soap in an effort to wash away his humiliation, then tried to relax, but gave up after ten minutes and got out of the tub. He wrapped himself into a huge, cozy towel and went into his bedroom. That was when he heard a polite knock on his door. He ignored it and climbed under the blanket. He could hear the lock turn, then light footsteps which recognized immediately.

'I did warn you, but you wouldn't listen.' he heard Lestat's voice, but didn't reply. 'Regardless, I came to apologize and to say goodbye.'

He rolled his eyes under the blanket and rolled onto his side, away from him. It wasn't exactly a power move, but he didn't have it in him to argue. Not this time. He could feel the mattress shift and the vampire's hand on his shoulder. He didn't move. He didn't as much as blink. He just wished he could make him disappear.

'Loki...' Lestat said quietly.

'Goodbye. Give my regards to David. It was nice doing business with you.' he cut him off, making sure his voice sounded assertive.

Lestat didn't respond. He knew he shouldn't have come, he didn't expect Loki to behave any differently than this, yet he couldn't get himself to part with him on such bad terms. Even if he knew Loki deserved this bitter lesson for being so utterly arrogant and selfish, for trying to seduce him again despite the blood red flags, for not understanding the depths of his feelings for him. How could he? Vampires felt everything to the extreme unlike any other beings. Suddenly he felt desperately alone, tears welling up his eyes. He let out a long sigh, removing his hand from his shoulder and got up to leave. Being around Loki was no longer an option for his own safety and his.

'I'm sorry, too. I shouldn't have said those things.'

Lestat didn't believe his ears and stared at the figure under the blanket. He was unable to reply, he was afraid he would burst into tears and he didn't want Loki to see him like that, so he kept walking towards the bedroom door.

'I did mean them though and I know it's horribly selfish of me, but I can't help it. I don't want our...alliance to end. I understand your reasons, I do, but still...'

Lestat made it out of the bedroom, but his body froze hearing Loki's confession despite his best efforts to keep walking. He shook his head in despair and tried to move.

'Lestat?' he heard Loki's voice and then the soft ruffle of the blanket.

He tried to get away with a renewed effort, failing miserably. His tears started to fall and he wiped them away angrily, cursing himself for being so weak, praying for Loki to quit, but his footsteps came closer and closer, halting a few feet away from him. Lestat could smell him, hear his heartbeat drumming faster and desire hit him like a raging storm.
