I'm startled awake by my body being shaken around roughly. My eyes shoot open trying to find the culprit. Bennett, of course, is jumping up and down on the bed, with the biggest grin on her face.

When she sees that my eyes are open, she only jumps more. "C'mon we go shoppin' today!" I close my eyes, bringing my hand to my forehead. "Get up!" She demands.

There is this massive kid store about 30 minutes or so down the road. It's where I went the day after she came into my life to buy her crib, stroller, car seat, and all her clothes. It has pretty much anything you can think of, so that's where we're going today.

"Bennie, the store isn't even open yet. It's too early, baby." I say gently, so I don't upset her. She nods, but continues to jump. "Stop jumping, I'm up. Sit down please."

She stops jumping and throws herself down on top of me, causing me to make an 'oomph' sound. That's definitely not what I meant, but hey at least she's listening. We are making progress.

She lays down on my chest, tucking her head into my neck. We lay there in silence, which is my first moment of peace this morning.

Not even three minutes later, she asks innocently, "We go now?"

I can't help but laugh at how impatient she is. "No baby, we still have a while. You know Aunt Cleo is coming, we can't leave without her can we?" Her eyes widen in realization and she shakes her head quickly. "How about we go make some breakfast?"

Seeming okay with this idea, she nods rolling off my chest allowing me to stand up. I turn around to grab her hand, but she has other ideas. "Piggy?"

Nodding, I sit down on the edge of the bed letting her climb onto my back. She wraps her arms around my neck, her legs around my waist. "Hold on tight, Bennie."

Once I feel her grip tighten, I take off running out of the room and down the stairs. She giggles uncontrollably as her little body bounces up and down.

Sitting her down on the kitchen counter, her little chest is rising up and down as she tries to catch her breath. "That was fun, Daddy!" She says out of breath.

"It was so fun, baby!" I laugh walking over to the fridge, pulling out the apple juice and pouring it in her sippy cup. I hand her the cup and ask, "What do you want to eat today?"

She hums, "I want 'affles!"

"Waffles, got it." I pull out all the ingredients I need along with the waffle maker. While I make the batter, Bennett watches closely and talks about all the things she wants to see at the store today.

When I've made about six waffles, I have enough batter for one more. "You wanna make one?" She nods and I pick her up off the counter, setting her on the floor. "Go get your stool."
