Forever I would be bound to the horrors of this world. My soul was tied to the walls, and my mind was crocheted into every flower that bloomed even under the snow. I could feel myself becoming more silent by the day, troubled by ridiculous things.
So I decided to take a break, going into town. There were multiple merchant stands placed around the roads, fisherman chopping the heads off of fish, ladies displaying their finest dresses, along with jewelers and grocers waving their hands for customers.
I made a stop at one of the grocers, pulling three silver coins from my satchel and placing it in his hands. "One apple, please."
The man gave me a welcoming smile, picking up and apple before bestowing it in my palms. "Pleasure doing business with ya' lass," He tipped his hat as I walked off.
I crunched into the apple, sucking at the juices that seeped into my mouth. My eyes went over to an actual store; a pawn shop. I always loved pawn shops as a kid. All the little knick-knacks and things inside were so intriguing.
I opened the door, a bell above my head ringing to tell the shop owners I had entered.
"Welcome..." A gloomy woman croaked from behind the counter, not even looking at me as she tapped her nails against the wood.
I held in an awkward face, nodding and then heading towards the back. I held my bitten apple close to my chest.
I searched through dresses and clothes, rolling my eyes at how fancy some of them were. My eyes fell over to a red gown, fitted for someone with no waist. The corset on the thing was unbelievable. I really couldn't imagine how many coins it would be for something like that. It also looked painful.
I moved away, now finding a shelf of necklaces and other things like stones and handkerchiefs.
My eyes met with a white teacup with blue flowers painted unto the rim, a lovely vibrance about it. It reflected the light from the sun, radiantly outshining every other item in the store.
It reminded me of Levi.
"How much is something like that?" I tipped the cup sideways, a paper tag hanging off the bottom. My eyes widened at the price.
"Ugh. I should have known," I put the cup down carefully, shoes clacking against the wooden floors as I went for the door. I was wearing baggy brown trousers and an unpretentious grey shirt, a rather boring outfit. I felt unexpectedly apprehensive about being inside such an expensive store. I mean, it wasn't the most pristine place in town, but compared to other pawn shops, this was no place for me.
Upon exciting, I sat down on the stone steps that led up to the door of the shop, not caring about if anyone needed to enter.
There was no snowfall today, and hardly any left on the ground. This meant that the stone steps were not damp, thankfully.
I finished my apple, swallowing the hard skin of it as if it were a razor.
To my right, I was deathly close to Wall Rose. It looked as if I could almost touch it by just reaching out because of how big it was.
Even though I had been inside Wall Maria thousands of times before, it was still hard to digest the fact that numerous man eating creatures were just on the other side.I could see some people from the Garrison Regiment monitoring titan activity.
Out of the corner of my eye I spotted a familiar face.
"Captain!" I called his attention with a wave. Levi stopped in his tracks, turning to see who had called him. He walked over after I reeled him in by motioning my hands.
