After capturing six members of the group conspiring against the Scouts, the Military Police was tasked with arresting the remaining members. The entire group was taken behind bars, and the Scouts had rid themselves yet another nuisance.
Yet, for some reason, I found myself in the throne room of King Fritz and a few surrounding members of the Govvernment. Levi, Hange, and Commander Erwin were here as well.
"We would like to invite the four of you to tonight's Royal Ball as our guests of honor," One of the Government representatives said before us. I was beyond astonished at the invitation. We had nearly killed people. I expected them to arrest us, or at least put tabs on us.
"They're just inviting us to make it seem like they're the ones responsible for arresting thieves," Hange whispered from my side. "They know people will grow more impressed and fond of them if they act like they care about our needs."
That made more sense. Of course they'd use use for their benefit.
Erwin looked at all of us before nodding up at the representative. "It would be our honor to attend."
"Then we will gladly await your presence," He responded. "You may all stay within the castles quarters tonight. You are all dismissed."
I snorted to myself, annoyed. A Royal Ball? How amusing.
Levi seemed just as unimpressed as me, leaving the room at the dismissal without any sign of excitement.
As I was exiting the room, a woman stopped all of us. "Wait!" She panted, running up with a heap of clothes between her arms and chest. "I was told to give these to you all if you agreed to the invitation. Please, take them," She held them out. Erwin took them from her. "Thank you," He said. She smiled.
"What are those?" Levi asked him. "Suits and dresses," Erwin replied. "I'm assuming for the dance."
"Well what else would they be for?" Hange rolled her eyes. "Give me the dresses," She yanked them out of his arms.
"They are for the Ball. I'll also be showing you all to your rooms for the night," The young girl said, directing us down a hall. We followed.
"Ladies, you will fill the room on the left. Gentleman, the right," She nodded over to two doors across from eachother. "I will take my leave now. The Royal Ball will be held at 7PM!"
Once she was done talking, she wandered off. I could see the sun setting outside the large windows of the corridor. "Then I suppose we should start getting ready," I said. Hange agreed.
Erwin opened the door to the men's room. "Yes. Let's not be late to this offer from the King himself."
Levi entered the room, a suit thrown over his shoulder.
I watched him leave before entering the other room.

Gown
-
I pulled at the knots in my hair, gritting my teeth as I tugged on the brush, unable to dislodge it from the tangled strands."Uh- Hange, do you mind helping me real quick?" I asked. She turned to me, already in her dress. It was more of a suit with a skirt, but Hange pulled it off well. I wasn't sure why I was the only one given a gown... Maybe it was meant to be the other way around.
As Hange began fixing my hair, I looked at the dress with uncertainty. "Do you really think I can pull something like that off? Maybe it was meant for you."
"Don't be ridiculous!" Hange gasped, lightly tapping the back of the brush on my head to scold my thoughts. "You will look amazing! As long as we can get your hair to look less like a birds nest," She laughed.
"Good luck with that," I recoiled at the sight of my hair in the mirror before us.
Eventually though, we managed.
"There, all done," Hange said, placing the brush delicately on the vanity. She then reached over and handed me the dress. "Now go put this on."
I grumbled silently to myself and headed for a screen that was placed beside the bed, taking my clothes off and flinging them over the side. I placed my feet in the dress, pulling it up my hips and up my shoulders, slipping my arms in the sleeves. I tied the ribbon around my waist to hug my frame even more.
I stepped out from behind the screen.
"How does it look?" I asked Hange.
Her jaw dropped.
"I think I've just seen an angel," She clapped her hands together.
"Oh just wait till Levi sees this, he'll fall head over heels for you!"
I raised my eyebrows, stunned. "What do you mean?"
"I've seen the way he acts around you," Hange clicked her tongue. "Quite a shock honestly. Levi never even glances in the direction of many people. Don't think I've forgotten the time he carried you to the med bay like a princess."
"I couldn't walk," I said, disproving Hange's words.
"You... Do have a point," She seemed disappointed. "But then what about that time he nearly killed that man to save your life and how worried he sounded?"
"I was literally choking on my own blood."
"You're no fun," She complained.
I was curious to know why both Hange and Petra were determined to set me up with the Captain. I brushed the thoughts off, pulling my hair back into a bun, slipping a pin between the band and my hair to hold it in place. A few pieces fell from behind my ears and framed my face.
I cupped my hands around my waist as I looked at myself one last time in the mirror. "Shall we head out?"
Hange opened the door. "After you."
[[Author's Note]]
This Episode is a lot shorter than the others because the next chapter will be long.
