He stood there with a man in his hands, dragging him behind him. Levi looked at us, unsure why we broke down at the sight of him.
I stumbled through the grass, tripping on the roots on my way over to him. He let go of the man he was dragging, catching me heroically. His eyes were wide. "Y/n? What's-"
I let out all my emotions that I held in, crying in his arms. My tears drenched his muddied shirt. He was beyond astonished at my reaction to seeing him, but hugged me all the same. I took in his touch, continuing to sob.
"Why are you always scaring me like this? You jerk!" I clasped his shirt in my fingers as I looked up at him with watery eyes. They swelled up with tears, turning red. Levi brushed his fingers against my cheek. "What are you guys doing here?" He looked at Hange.
Hange choked back a sob of relief. "We could ask you the same."
Then she went over and bent down to look at the guy Levi brought with him. "And... Who's this?"
"The asshole who was trying to kill me," He said.
"Wait, so this is Harlin's father?" Hange looked at me.
"Harlin?" Levi put it. "You mean that kid who keeps trying to steal Y/n from me?"
"It's a long story," Hange replied. "Right now, we need to head back and fill Erwin in on everything."
Levi went to follow Hange, who was now the one dragging the man.
But I held him in place. "I thought you were dead."
"Dead? I was only gone for a da-"
"I saw your corpse! Or at least- what looked like your corpse... It was gruesome. It must've been some lookalike they planted there to make us dispirited when they realized they failed to kill you... But still."
My tears were dried now, but I still had to compose myself when gazing at him. "I really thought you were dead. You've no idea."
Levi smiled sadly, looking at me trustingly. "I'm sorry."
He went to kiss me, but Hange called from up ahead. "Hurry up you two!"
He grumbled something inaudible, locking his fingers with mine and leading me through the forest after Hange. I looked down at our intertwined fingers, feeling every ounce of my soul settle back into me, life filling me once again. I was reunited with the one and only person I couldn't loose no matter what.

Promise

The father of Harlin, and Harlin himself were placed under arrest for disruption of peace, locked away for good. Commander Erwin and Section Commander Hange cleaned up the mess left behind, and I was left filling Levi in on every detail. He felt even worse about not returning home immediately after fleeing the grasp of the bandits, apologizing for leaving me to wallow in my guilt. The corpse really was a lookalike put there for the purpose of tearing our guard down. It tricked me, and I felt silly for crying over an unknown person. Still, no one deserves to die, even people like Harlin. Death wasn't something to take lightly.
But I was happy to know Levi was back with me once again. No matter what, he always returned.
Now that Harlin and his father were in the custody of the MP, all my fears melted away.We were in the garden he maintained himself, standing close and kissing eachother in the enclosure of roses. When I closed my eyes, I could feel the memory of snow blanket me, bringing me back to the days I had fallen for him. I could feel the icy breeze against my back, and the warmth of our first kiss. I could hear his voice in the stable so long ago, and I felt the memory of the dream that had once been such a nightmare in the back of my mind. Now, all the dream did was prove that Levi was living and breathing.
I didn't know what strange ability I had, and I hadn't the interest to care. All I cared for was his kiss.He tucked the strands of hair behind my ears when we pulled apart. "I truly am sorry for worrying you so much."
"It's not your fault," I responded. "I'm just glad that there's nothing else to get in our way."
He smiled.
"I hope that's true," He said. "I'd like to grow old with you. Now and forever."
"Does that mean you want a child too?" I asked warmly, somewhat teasing him.
"If that's what you'd like," Levi said. I could see his ears turn red at the suggestion.
"I think we could arrange for that," I said, poking his cheek as I turned away and plucked a rose from it's stem.
"Not anytime soon though," I cut in while handing him the rose. "I don't think I like the idea of flying around pregnant in ODM gear."
Levi placed the flower behind my ear, tucking it neatly in my hair. "That's too bad," He said. "I think you'd look cute."
I flicked his forehead. "You can't say things like that or I'll end up considering it."
He pulled me in closer by my waist. A smirk was on his face as his nose touched mine. "Not anytime soon, huh?" He winked. I was taken aback by his flirtatious words.
"I guess we could-" I kissed his lips in between sentences. "Not!"
I pushed him away with my finger. "Seriously, no kids yet."
He crossed his arms. "I suppose you're right. I wouldn't want to deal with a snotty nosed brat on top of titans."
"Hey!" I scolded. "Any kid of ours would not be snotty nosed, or a brat."
Levi nodded in agreement.
I stepped up to him. "If you die before those days can arrive though," I said. "I'll kill you all over again."
"You have my word, m'lady." Levi said fondly, kissing the surface of my hand as he brought it up to his lips. "I won't die ever again."
I dusted off his shirt. "Good."
I kissed his cheek.
"I'd like to keep you."
