Proto-Human

New Beginnings

After spending the last 4 hours in my room I decide to go out and explore. After what felt like an eternity waking around I heard grunts coming from a few doors ahead of where I was standing. At first I thought I had stumbled across someone's room and I was intruding on something. Those thoughts caused a blush to form. To my surprise and extreme relief it was just a gym. I slipped inside to see what was going on. I was surprised see Marissa attacking a training dummy with such speed, I start to think that she's a proto human as well.  I cough softly and she spins so fast she loses her balance and lands on her back.  

"Ray, what are you doing here?" she asks while still trying to get up from the floor.

"I couldn't just lay around and mope anymore, so I decided to get up and explore," I replied smiling. 

"Well then, welcome to the gym, I hope you'll be spending more time in here than moping around," she says with a laugh.  I walk over and help her up off the floor, forgetting about my enhanced strength I accidently pull her up into me.  She wraps her arms around my shoulders to steady herself out of instinct.  Out of shock and again more instinct we both blush and step back.  Well, she more jumps back than steps. 

"Sorry about that," I mutter softly slightly embarrassed by what just transpired. 

She blushes and responds "It's ok, I don't mind."  I blink slowly and shake my head.

'I can't believe this, I just find out I was cheated on and I'm already trying to start something new,'

"Why are you shaking your head, is everything ok?" she asks sounding concerned.

"Yeah, everything is fine just thinking about some thing's," I respond coming out of my daze and thoughts.

"What were you thinking about?" she asks cocking her head to the side with a curious look in her eyes.

"Well, um I was just well...." I stammer and blush furiously. 

"That's what I thought," she says with a sure confidence.

"What's that supposed to mean?" I ask finally getting my voice back.

"Exactly what it sounds like, I was thinking the same thing," she says becoming kinda shy.

"Then what were you thinking?" I ask a smile forming on my lips.  Now it was her turn to squirm.  After she squirms for a bit as if wrestling with a decision, she walks over to me and puts her arms around my shoulders again and rests her head on my chest.  I wrap my arms around her and kiss the top of her head. 

"This just feels right to me," she says.

"I agree," I respond softly.  She looks up at me and I suddenly feel like there's nothing else around me.  It's just her and I.  I lean down and feel her lips meet mine somewhere in  the space between us.  It starts off slow.  Her lips soft, forming to mine.  After a time we break apart, both flushed and smiling like idiots. 

"Well that felt more than right," she said laughing softly.

"Yeah, it did," I agree with a chuckle.  I wrap my arms around her and she rests her head on my chest again.  I notice a small smile playing across her lips, "What's with the smile?" I ask a small one playing on my lips at the same time.

"Am I not allowed to be happy?" she asks in a false huff.  She tries to pull away but with my enhanced strength she can't move.

"I've got you now," I laugh jokingly holding her to me.  She laughs along with me.

"C'mon lets go get lunch, or, actually I think it would be dinner at this point," she says smiling.  She reaches out and takes my hand leading me out.

'This is the start of something new, I guess the doc was right I found my new beginning,' I think to myself.
