Max

I was sleeping and dreaming. I was dreaming of Lucas. We were married and we had kids. Suddenly I was shook awake by a nurse.

Nurse - "Hey, have you been here all night?"

I looked out the window and it was daytime and I also looked at Lucas. He wasn't awake yet.

Max - "Uh....yeah."

Nurse - "Why don't you go home and get some rest? We'll take care of him. I promise.

Max - "....Okay."

Nurse - "It's gonna be okay, sweetie. Go home."

Max - "Okay."

I didn't want to but I left Lucas and I left the hospital but I didn't go home. I went to the retirement home.

Max - "Hi. I'm here to see Lidia Sinclair."

Receptionist - "Okay, follow me. Lidia, you have a visitor."

Lidia - "Max, honey, it's good to see you again."

Max - "It's good to see you again, too, Lidia."

We hugged.

Lidia - "You okay?"

Max - "No."

Lidia - "What's wrong, honey?"

Max - "....It's Lucas. He was in an accident and now he's in a coma."

Lidia started crying

Lidia - "When that boy was 5, he used to love it when I make chocolate chips cookies. He'd stuff his face with many as he could. I never could get him to stop. One day he asked me, "Grandma, what does love feel like?" I told him, "Love is a very special feeling. It's one of the feelings that makes us human"."

Max - "....I."

Lidia - "Max, do you still love Lucas?"

Max - "....I do. I still love him."

Lidia smiled

Lidia - "I always knew you were the perfect girl for my Lucas."

Max - "Thank you, Lidia."
