"Congrats on a great first game!" Halle ran over and jumped on to her brother's back.
He left out a grunt and stumbled, but Clint stayed on his feet. He held under her knees as he walked around. They both raised their right arm up in victory. It was a great win against LA Galaxy.
"Uncle Clint!"
"Sabrina!"
Clint let go of Hallee, causing her to land her butt with a grunt. She smiled as her brother embraced her daughter. She looked around and saw Lisa and Carly walking on to the field with Morgan.
"Congratulations!" Carly smiled.
"Thank you!"
"Mama!"
Hallee leaned down and picked up her son. She kissed his cheek as he cuddled into her shoulder. She could tell that he was tired but excited.
Hallee chatted with Chris' family for a few minutes before going to do her post-game interview with Bruce. Hallee went to give Morgan to Clint, but he didn't want to let go.
"Mama no. I stay with mama," he whined.
"Mama has to work real fast. Uncle Clint will-"
"Don't worry, Hallee. Morgan is welcome to do the interview with us," Bruce interrupted with a smile.
"Are you sure?"
"Positive. You're a working single-mother. I completely understand, and I really admire you."
"Thank you," Hallee smiled.
Bruce's words sent a pang to her stomach. Hallee never imagined that she would be a single mother of two to two children under the age of five by the time she was twenty three, but she was. Hallee had a lot of help, but it wasn't the same as having a husband. It made her miss the times when it was good with Christian.
Morgan kept his cheek resting on her shoulder most of the interview. Bruce was obviously please to start the season with a win. It was even better that Clint hadn't allowed any goals.
"What do you expect from the game versus New York City FC, the current MLS Cup winners, next weekend?"
"This is definitely a great thing to take with us. It gives us the confidence we need to take NYCFC on-"
"Chris!" Morgan perked up.
"Shh," Hallee hushed.
"Those games are always hard, but I'm feeling good about our chances, especially now-"
"Chris! Chris! Chris!" Morgan started trying to get out of Hallee's arms.
"Morgan," Hallee sighed and leaned down to set Morgan down.
She turned around and her jaw dropped when she saw her boyfriend standing there. Morgan ran over to Chris and hugged his leg. Hallee grinned and turned back to Bruce. The coach had a rare large smile on his face as well.
"Always nice to get a win at home with Captain America in the audience. We're looking forward to playing NYCFC at home next weekend. We'll train hard and take this confidence with us, but overall a great start to the season. Thanks, Hallee," Bruce grinned before walking off.
"And there you have it from head coach, Bruce Arena. Thank you Revs fans for being here tonight! We will see you back here next Saturday at 6:30pm!" Hallee grinned and stood there until she got the all clear.
"Clear!" Jeff smiled.
Hallee nodded and walked over to him. She took off her mic pack and handed the microphone to Jeff. He smiled and thanked her.
"Good game! See you on Monday!"
"Absolutely," Hallee grinned.
She turned around and hurried over to where Chris was standing. Chris was holding Morgan while talking with Clint and Sabrina.
"Mommy! Chris surprised us!" Sabrina grinned.
"Yes, yes he did. That was very nice of him, wasn't it?" Hallee smiled, "hi, Chris."
"Hi, Hallee," Chris smiled and gave her a quick side hug.
"I wasn't expecting to see you for another couple weeks."
"I figured I should come back home for an important game."
"I appreciate that," Hallee grinned, "did you drive here?"
"No. I took an Uber straight from the airport here. I figured I could get a ride home with someone."
"Absolutely. How long are you in town?"
"I have to fly back to LA tomorrow night," Chris rubbed the back of his neck.
"Okay. Well, you can stay at my house if you'd like."
"I would very much like that," he nodded.
"Great. I just need to go to my office and grab my stuff. I'll meet you by my car?"
"Sounds good."
"See you on Monday?" Clint asked.
"Mhm," Hallee nodded and kissed his cheek, "Sabrina, go with Chris and be good, okay?"
"Okay, Mommy!" Sabrina nodded.
Hallee smiled as Clint set Sabrina down. Sabrina walked over to Chris and took his other hand. She was glad that her children were so comfortable with Chris. Morgan looked to be asleep on Chris's shoulder. It warmed her heart.
"I shouldn't be more than five minutes."
"Take your time."
Hallee nodded and hurried back to her office. She quickly packed her computer up. She threw the clothes that she wore to the stadium into the weekender. She pulled her heels off and sat down. She rubbed her feet with a sigh. Hallee pulled on her sneakers before grabbing her bags.
"See you Monday," Paul waved.
"See you Monday!" She grinned.
Hallee went out to her car and saw Chris standing there with Sabrina and Morgan. She hurried over and unlocked the car. Chris carefully began getting Morgan into his car seat while Hallee got Sabrina set up.
"Mommy, I'm tired."
"I'm sure you are. It's been a busy day. We'll be home soon, and then you can go to bed," Hallee kissed her forehead.
"Okay," Sabrina yawned.
Hallee smiled and went to put her bags in the trunk. Chris came over and helped her load the bags. She smiled and hugged him. He wrapped his arms around her.
"I missed you," she murmured.
"I missed you too," he smiled.
"Let's go home."
"Let's."
