Hallee smiled as she finished interviewing Edgar. She gave him a quick hug before hurrying to help Brad wrap up the equipment. Everyone had to move quickly so that they could get the fans down on to the field for the fireworks show.
"This is your first 4th of July game isn't?" Brad asked.
"Yeah. I went to the 4th of July games wherever Clint was playing, but I've never worked one," Hallee nodded.
"How have you liked it so far?"
"It's been fun! I can't wait for the fireworks show!" Hallee grinned, "I wish Sabrina and Morgan we're here to see it, but ya know."
"Yeah, I do. I wish my kids could see them too," Brad sighed.
Brad and Hallee both had kids with their ex-spouses who spent the summers away from them. Jackson and Cayden were 8 and 5 years old, and they had become good friends with Sabrina and Morgan.
"Are you staying down here for fireworks or going up to Chairman's?" Hallee asked.
"Chairman's. You?"
"I'm going to watch with the Evans," Hallee smiled.
"Oh that'll be fun!" Brad winked at her.
"What?" She rolled her eyes.
"You two are close."
"It's nice to have a friend," Hallee shrugged, "he's been great to talk to because he's removed."
"Okay," he laughed.
Hallee rolled her eyes again and went to the offices. She grabbed her bags and quickly walked upstairs to the Evans' suite. She knocked on the door before opening it.
"Hallee!" Stella grinned.
"Hi, Stella! Did you and Miles have fun tonight?"
"Yes! We are excited for fireworks!"
"Me too!" Hallee gave her a high five.
"Hey, you did great!" Scott walked up with a glass of wine for her.
"Thank you," she took it and sipped, "have you guys been to a Revs 4th game?"
"Nope. First time for all of us!" He grinned at her.
"Awesome," she gave him a quick hug.
"When do Morgan and Sabrina come home?"
"Three weeks!"
"You must be excited."
"Like you would've believe," she nodded, "they're my babies so of course I miss them. But I know they're having a good time with Christian, and he's their father so I can't deprive them of that."
"You're a good mom," he squeezed her shoulder.
"Hey, Hallee! Are you hungry?" Carly walked over and gave her a hug.
"Yes. I haven't eaten since before I got here around 1," she laughed.
"Well help yourself! We have a ton of food left over."
"Thank you so much," Hallee smiled.
She walked over to the back counter where all the food was. The Revs always made sure that the Evans had a spread of food. She grabbed a plate and took some salad and mac n' cheese. She was slightly spooked by arms around her waist. Hallee jumped slightly and looked over her shoulder.
"Boo," Chris grinned.
"You scared me, Christopher!" She laughed setting her plate down.
"You did great as always!"
"Thank you," she smiled and hugged him.
"You look beautiful," he murmured in her ear.
Hallee blushed and wrapped her arms around his neck. Chris leaned down and softly kissed her. Hallee smiled and kissed back. They had two amazing dates since they decided to try being romantic. She was excited about Chris. He was an amazing man.
"You're so amazing," he murmured softly and rubbed her cheek.
"That's you," Hallee responded, "I'm so lucky to have you in my life."
"Hey, love birds! The fireworks count down has started!" Scott stuck his head inside.
"We're coming!" Chris laughed.
Hallee grabbed her wine glass and plate of food. She followed Chris out on to the balcony and sat down in between him and Scott. Chris threw a blanket over the three of them as it was a crisp night. She began eating her sandwich as all the stadium lights turned off dramatically one by one.
Chris leaned over and kissed her cheek and took her hand under the blanket. She smiled and leaned her head on his shoulder as the fireworks started.
"Did Clint and Kasey not want to join us?"
"They're down on the field. It's a tradition for the players to watch on the field," Hallee explained.
"Oh okay," Chris nodded.
It was a beautiful fireworks display. Something about it reminded Hallee of the trips they would take to the Outer Banks for the 4th. It made her smile. She just wished that Sabrina and Morgan were there to see everything too.
Hallee smiled and squeezed Chris' hand. She was happy to be spending the holiday with him and his family. They were the nicest people. She hoped to be able to spend every holiday with them.
