Christian sat on his bed wondering just how the hell he had fallen so far from where he had been. Two years ago, he was Europe's golden boy. The next big star. Comparisons between him, Messi, and Ronaldo when they were 18 and 19 were all over.

He sat on the Chelsea bench the first half of the season. He spent the second half of the season in the Netherlands. And now, he was going to spend the whole year in Spain. How would he tell Hallee? She had a life and a career she loved in London. She had just received a promotion at Arsenal, and the kids loved London.

They were currently in Hershey spending some time with his family before they went to Colorado to see Clint. They had already spent some time in North Carolina with Hallee's parents.

"Christian?" Kelly asked as she knocked on the door.

"Mom, how am I going to tell Hallee?"

"Tell Hallee what?"

Christian handed her his phone which had the message from Frank telling him that he was going on loan to Real Sociedad for the year. Kelly let out a gasp and covered her mouth. She looked at him with wide eyes.

"Oh, Christian."

"Hallee is going to be devastated. She has been talking about how excited she is about us being together in London and potentially renovating our house," Christian rubbed his face, "and they can't come with me. Sabrina is in preschool, and Morgan needs to stay with Hallee because he's not even a year old. A-and Hallee just got a promotion."

"Oh gosh. I don't know, but you have so time. She's still at stables with the kids, Maggie, and DeeDee," Kelly rubbed his arm.

Christian sighed, "Sabrina is going to be so sad too. Hallee said she really missed me."

"I'm so sorry, Chris. If it's any consolation, Tom, Timothee, Laura, and Evie will be in London with her."

"I'd rather it be me. Can you please watch Sabrina and Morgan tonight, so I can take Hallee to dinner?"

"Of course."

That night, dinner went exactly as Christian thought it would go. Hallee was absolutely devastated and cried. There was nothing he could say to her that would make her feel better about the situation. It absolutely broke Christian's heart to see Hallee cry like that. She couldn't bear to look at him on the drive home. She just sat there sniffling while she looked out the window.

When they got back home, Hallee locked herself in the bathroom. He could hear her on the phone crying to her parents. Christian leaned his head against the window. He sighed heavily. This was not at all how he had imagined his summer break going. There was a knock on the door before it opened.

Maggie walked in, "hey."

"How were the kids?" He asked, not turning around.

"Angels. Hallee take the news badly?" Maggie stepped next to him.

"Oh yeah. She's been crying for an hour straight."

"I'm so sorry, Chris," Maggie sighed leaning her head on his shoulder.

"Timothee said he talked to Tom, and they'll help her out."

"I know they will. But it's not me. It's not the same. I'm going to miss so many more of Morgan's milestones. I hate this."
