Hallee wiped her forehead with the back of her hand as she finished pouring coffee. It was her one year anniversary with Chris, and it was also his birthday. She smiled and carefully got the tray with their breakfast ready.

She was excited to spend the whole day with Chris. Hallee walked back into her bedroom. Chris was still sound asleep. He was sleeping on his stomach facing her side of the bed.

Hallee set the tray of food down on the small table she had set up in the bedroom before sitting down next to Chris. He was peacefully snoring. Leo and Dodger had taken her spot in the bed. She gently placed a hand on his shoulder.

"Chris."

He stirred and yawned, "morning."

"Happy birthday!"

Chris stretched his arms over his head, "thank you."

"I made us breakfast."

"Yeah."

"Mhm," she smiled and gestured to the tray.

"Wow. That looks amazing," he grinned.

She smiled as he sat up. He pulled her in for a hug. She buried her face in his neck. Chris' arms held her close to his chest. She traced her fingers down his back. Hallee softly kissed his neck.

"I love you."

"I love you too, Hallee. Thank you for all this."

"Of course. And also happy anniversary," she pulled away and gently placed a hand on his cheek.

"Happy anniversary!"

He turned his head and kissed her palm before weaving their fingers together. Chris tugged Hallee into his lap. She comfortably straddled his thighs and rubbed his cheek. She pulled away slightly and just stared into his eyes. She could see the love and softness in his eyes.

"How did I get so lucky?" His hands rubbed up and down her back.

"I've been asking myself the same thing," he kissed her nose.
