CHAPTER FOUR—————falling rose petals.
Lupe Herrera sat in the car seat next to Karen Page, listening to her rant about no other than Matthew Murdock. It seems to be that Matt had went to her apartment, asking- pleading for her help.
"It's total bullshit. I can't believe Matt would even ask." Karen sighs, scoffing at his name.
"Well Matt is Matt. He clearly doesn't give a fuck if it's bullshit, he'll still ask." Lupe tells her, shurgging her shoulders, feeling bad for her friend.
"But I still think you should help him." Foggy hops into the conversation, as he sat in the back seat of the car.
"You can't be serious, Foggy. Really? Come on." Karen rolls her eyes, putting her head against her car window. Lupe decided it was best to not mention to either one of them how Matthew came to her house last night. She tells herself that she won't tell them how she's slowly feeling something for him. As much as she doesn't want to, it feels like she was being betrayed by herself. By her own mind. It's thoughts of Matthew that can't seem to stay in the back of her mind.
But she'd also have thoughts, the ones that haven't betrayed her just yet. The ones that remind her of the emotional damage he had done to her by ending things with her without giving a clear explanation why.
"Just hear me out." Foggy tells Karen, his head peaking out the space between the two front car seats. "You agree to write the article on one condition. Matt turns himself in to the FBI."
Lupe raises a brow, eyes slightly widening- turning her head to him. Wondering if she had heard that correctly. "I know this isn't really my business but...are you crazy?"
"You do know they're not just breathing down our necks? That's why you left work earlier than you were supposed to." Foggy reminds her, making her roll her eyes- scoffing. She had another encounter with Special Agent Nadeem, but this time it wasn't to ask about the progress or the health of the agents that were still under urgent care because of the horrid incident with Fisk.
"I didn't want to leave," Lupe shrugs her shoulders again. "-they said it was best if I took an actual break for once in my life."
"Anyhow, back to the point." Foggy says, "They're only breathing down our necks and just started breathing down Lupe's is because of Matt. Because they are looking for Matt. Once they have him..."
"He'll never agree to that." Karen tells him. Lupe only nods her head, agreeing with the blonde.
"There's no reason to think the FBI knows anything about Matt's other life." Foggy explains to the both of them. "But if he can give 'em that witness, then Matt's in the clear. So therefore, we all would be in the clear too."
