Chapter Three: Mustangs and madras

I had ended up back at Dally's place at Bucks and lost track of time. I left in a hurry running down the street to get home, Darry is going to be so mad and Soda is probably worried since I didn't go home with Pony.

As a approach the house and hear Darry yelling, probably at Pony again. Time to go get in the middle so neither of them do anything to stupid.

I walk through the door causing everyone to look at me, "And where the hell have you been" Darry asked

"I was with Dally and I lost track of the time, I'm sorry" I said

"Hey Olive, c'mon let get to bed, you too Pony" Soda tried to get all the yelling and arguing to stop. Poor guy hates the yelling and the fighting.

"I lost track of time, I forgot. That's all I ever hear from you two!" Darry yelled at me and Ponyboy

"C'mon Darry" Soda raised his voice getting tired of him doing this to Pony all the time and now me

""Hey! You shut your trap" Darry yelled at Soda pointing at him

"Don't you yell at him!" Pony yelled and I stepped in front on him in a protective way and tried to get everything to stop so we could just go to sleep.

Darry then shoved me out of the was causing me to stumble, I didn't fall completely onto the floor but I fell toward the edge of the dining table. I look over and see Darry shove Ponyboy and make him fall to the ground.

Pony gets up, runs over to me and grabs my hand as we run out the door we can here Darry and Soda come out of the door.

"I'm sorry Ponyboy, Olive. Come back here!" Darry yelled but we just kept running until we got to the lot where I guess Johnny was sleeping tonight.

"C'mon Johnny we're runnin' away" Piny said and we all started running again. Almost all the way to the park.

"Hey man slow down, you're scarin' me" Johnny said as our running came to a stop grabbing Ponyboy by the arm.

"Darry hit me and Olive" Ponyboy said as he caught his breath and started to cry a little

"More like pushed us but basically yeah" I added since technically he didn't directly hit, just shove to the ground. Nothing compared to what Johnny goes through at home.

"I think I like it better when the old man's hittin' me. At least he knows I'm there" Johnny said and I leaned over to give him a side hug

"Let's walk to the park and back" Pony said "Maybe I'll be cooled off enough by then to go home" and we started walking. Once we got there we went the the jungle gym and climbed up to the top, when me and Johnny noticed a blue Mustang turn in.

"Hey man, this is our territory" Johnny said as he pointed out to Pony what was happening

"It's the guys from earlier" Ponyboy told him

"What?" I asked "What happened earlier?"

"It's the boyfriends of the girls that sat in front of us at the movie" Pony said and I nodded. They walked up to us, clearly drunk.

"Aren't theses the greasers who tried to pick up on our women?" one of them, Im guessing the leader of the group asked

"You're outta your territory, you better watch it" Johnny said lowly

"No pal, you better watch it" another socs said

Normally the socs don't scare me or make me nervous but normally I'm with Dally or one of the guys. Don't get me wrong, I love Ponyboy and Johnny but they ain't as big as Dally, Darry, or anyone else in the gang.

We had jumped down off of the jungle gym and one sox asks "You know what a greaser is?" and when we didn't respond he says "White trash with long greasy hair" he smirked

"You know what a soc is?" Ponyboy asked
'Great Pone, your gonna get us killed' I thought.

"What?" he asked

"White trash with Mustangs and madras" he said and spit at him. Great, just great.

"Get them!" a few of them yelled and we split, trying to make a run for it. Though we just weren't fast enough.
