A/N: Hiiii everyone! It's been a really, really long time since I posted a oneshot... last time was like in August I think! Anyway, I just wanted to tell you guys that I finally wrote the last part of Lou's one shot (after like, seven months of waiting 🫢). I didn't like the direction I took in the last parts, but I had to finish it. Also, one last thing, if you like Cordelia Goode, I published a new book, it'd be kind of you to go take a look, thanks. That's it, enjoy your reading!

"I-I can't... I'm sorry, but I can't." Y/n got out and left Lou's loft in a hurry.

The ride back home wasn't safe let's just say. Y/n couldn't help but speed as she was thinking about Debbie and her date with Lou and how all that was just so fucked up. Who knew love was so complicated? Y/n wanted to be with Lou, like she really did even after everything Lou did to her... But at the same time, she felt bad for Debbie, she didn't want to hurt her best friend. And to say that all this fucked up thing happened because Y/n wasn't ready to have kids... Well if her and Lou finally end up together, as hell they're gonna have kids!

Once she was home, Y/n poured herself a glass of vodka and she drank it in one go. The young woman winced, but instead of pouring herself another glass, she took the bottle with her upstairs and she flopped onto the bed. Now, she had to think about all this. Y/n felt like her thoughts were entangled together, like a ball of yarn that is in fact a node. You know, the type of node that takes forever and a lot of patience to untie? She just wanted to forget all that, but how could she? The node of thoughts was taking all the place in her mind and she couldn't think of anything else than that.

The next day, Y/n called her best friend, Debbie, to try and sort everything in her head. She's so lost and she needed someone to help her. Like the dedicated best friend that she is, Debbie accepted even if she already had an idea about what it was - Lou. Y/n and Debbie were sitting on the white, letter couch in Y/n's living room, a beer in their hands. Y/n couldn't bring herself to dress up nicely and to do her hair. She was still in the oversized t-shirt and joggers that she wore as a pyjamas. It didn't bother Debbie though who was wearing a white shirt tucked in her burgundy trousers, her brown hair straightened as usual.

"I'm so sorry, I shouldn't have called, you might not want to talk with me about Lou and-" Y/n started without even daring to look at Debbie, rubbing her fingertip along the ring of the bottle of beer before Debbie laid her hand on Y/n's knee, cutting her off.

"I'm hear for you Y/n, so if you need to talk to me about Lou, I'll listen. I'm your best friend after all." Debbie said as an attempt to reassure Y/n.

"I hate that, it sounds like you feel obligated to be their for me only because we're best friends instead of just being there because you want to."

"You know what I meant." Debbie squeezed Y/n's knee earning herself a smile from the other woman.

"Yeah, I know..."

"So, what's running in your gorgeous little head."

"I don't know what to think really... At first, I thought I was over Lou and for me, that was clear when I learned you two were, you know... But then you break up, she harasses me with her calls and I find myself missing and hating her at the same time for what she did to you... And now I'm lost, I badly want to be with her, but what if our relationship doesn't survive a fight? And I'd feel so bad about you too, I don't want to hurt either-"

Y/n was really stressing out, her grip on the bottle tightening as the words sinked out of her mouth. Her brown eyes were scanning the room to find something to look at, anything but Debbie's piercing gaze. Seeing her best friend in this state of panic, Debbie took Y/n's bottle out of her hands to put it on the coffee table, next to hers, and she leaned in for a long, comforting tight hug. Suddenly in Debbie's arms, Y/n took a second to comprehend what was happening before she held on tight to her best friend, burying her face in Debbie's neck. They finally broke the hug with a Y/n much more serene.

"Y/n, look at me directly in the eyes and listen to me very carefully: it's you, it has always been you. I thought I could compete, but there is only room for you in Lou's heart. So go to her and tell her that you wanna be her girlfriend, that is what's meant to happen. I was just a healing stop in Lou's journey, but you're the one supposed to be by her side at the end of it." Y/n's eyes were filled with tears, the words of her best friend hitting hard. "Now, go get your girl, gorgeous!"

"Yeah?" Y/n asked with her eyebrows furrowed and a smile on her face.

"Yeah! But you might wanna go change before though.."

"I think you're right." The women chuckled, another hug following before Y/n went upstairs to change into proper clothes.

Now standing in front of Lou's front door, it felt like she would liquify right there, right now! It was the last step that was hard to do: ring the doorbell. However, it was the easiest part. Pushing a button. That's not so difficult to do. But for Y/n, it was. It would mean that she'd see Lou and that she'd have to tell her that she made a mistake by running away the other night. But she was ready. She had to be...

Before Y/n had the time to find the courage to ring the doorbell, the door opened right in front of her, letting appear a tall, blond haired woman who wasn't expecting anyone to be in front of her door when she'd get out. When Lou's eyes met with Y/n's, she froze, they both did actually. While Y/n was trying to find what to say, Lou was thinking about all the possible reasons for Y/n's visit. It's Y/n who finally broke the silence.

"H-hey Lou! How you doing?" Y/n struggled to find a position that wouldn't let Lou know how uncomfortable she actually was. Lou, her, was flabbergasted still trying to know why the other woman was there.

"That's awkward. Why don't you come in?"

"Yeah, that'd be great!" Y/n said with relief, her shoulders slumping as she exhaled.

The brown haired woman followed Lou inside her loft, her heart racing at every second passing. They stopped in the living room, Lou leaning her butt against the back of the couch.

"Why were you at my door?" Lou asked all of a sudden, arching one perfectly shaped eyebrow at the brown haired woman.

"Weren't you on your way out?" Y/n tried to change subject, but that old trick didn't work with Lou.

"Why were you at my door?" Lou asked again, pausing in between every word.

"Right." Y/n seemed to get back on track with her thoughts as her heart tightened. She knew that what was coming would be embarrassing for her. "Okay so, I had time to think about what you said and about what I want right now and about what's best for everyone... But I know that if we do get back together, it would hurt Debbie a lot..."

"And what if we don't get back together. How that would make you feel?"

"I'd regret it. Because I still have feelings for you."

With that, Lou got up and walked up to Y/n, stopping really close to her, and she kissed her. But this time, Y/n didn't pull away.
