Chapter 89

When you returned, you returned to the hospital and it seemed not much time had passed since you left. Deep down you wished that Pain had not attacked, but all it took was a look outside the window to see a lot of debris from the attack. However, the door to your room was literally torn from it's hinges as Naruto entered the room.

His clothing wasn't stained with blood, though there was a bit of dirt on his clothing. A few others followed after him, but the blond male was quick to rush forward and took you in his arms. "When Pain, Nagato," he corrected himself, "mentioned your name I thought he was also here for you. " Which would mean, to take you with them or to kill you. For a brief moment he pulled back to look at your face and smiled. "What happened? For you to go back and talk to him?"

To your surprise, Kakashi was here too, and an amused look was plastered on his face as you turned you gaze to him and everyone else. Kiba sent you a goofy smile, Hinata sending a shy one. They were not the only ones, though, you could spot smiles on your friends. "I don't think it made much of a difference, judging by all that was left outside."

"It did, Pain had the intention to take Naruto with them and he would have destroyed and even killed civilians in doing so. He did cause destruction, but his attacks were not aiming to either, obtain Naruto or kill anyone. He was holding back." Kakashi explained.

Though Shikamaru stepped from the back of the group, "what exactly happened? And how did you manage to travel back in time?"

Then, why did Pain attack? Perhaps to make sure that you were saying the truth? To see with his own eyes what Naruto had to say? "He would have killed people during his attack, but," you turned to Naruto, "at the end you talked to him and made him change. In doing so, he would have sacrificed himself to bring back those who had died by his attack. But, what changed?"

"Since no one was actually killed, there was no need for him to sacrifice himself. They went back to the Rain Village, promising to aid Naruto in his quest for peace.  He also extended his help, and offer sanctuary if you needed it." Neji explained, " but you haven't explained how you managed to go back in time. Did Pain have anything to do with it? "

This time you felt all of their eyes on you, waiting for you to speak. Toyo and Rafu were still detained until it was decided what would be of your fate. "It wasn't him, it was someone else." There was a deal that needed to be dealt with. "I made a deal with someone. He completed his side of his deal, and I'll complete my part. "

Even if they tried to stop you, they wouldn't be able to. Pain was not aiming to kill them, but that did not mean he didn't exhaust them. "You're leaving?"

Naruto had a tendency of hurting himself more than he should. Maybe everyone else did, but Naruto took it harder. "Naruto," you began, "stop hurting yourself. I know that if I leave, you're going to want to bring me back or to bring Sasuke back."

" We're friends, " he began. " And we protect and help each other."

There was a wave of agreement, which made it harder for you. "Whatever deal you have, you don't have to go through it." Shikamaru frowned, obviously displeased.

"And if your life is in danger, we can protect you. Please don't leave." Sakura added, smacking the palm of her hand with her fist.

It was touching, it was, you knew they meant well. You knew that they would protect you, but you didn't want them or anyone else to get in trouble just so that they could protect you. You're life was a very big mess, that was more than enough.

Lowering your gaze for a moment, you pondered on what to say next. "And I thank you all for that, but it's something I must do."

"You know, it's okay to be selfish once in a while. You've done more than anyone else. Don't you think it is time for you to let others help you? " Kakashi rubbed his face.

" I know, but it's something I have to do on my own. " He wasn't referring to your deal, but to what you were planning on doing to your parents. "Either way, I am just happy that I got to know each one of you. And although my road had been bumpy, I don't regret my choices. Because if I hadn't made them, I wouldn't have met any of you. And,  just in case I do not return, just know that I love you all."

Your name left the lips of your friends as they watched you disappear. Although you were not sure as to what you would be doing after you killed your parents, it was always good to say goodbye.

Tobi was already waiting for you at the hideout, and he seemed to be ready for you to complete the other part of the deal. As you placed your hand on Tobi's shoulder, and you both disappeared, you smiled feeling calm.

It's better to say goodbye than nothing at all just in case you never make it back.
