Chapter 93

Note: This is kind of like the ending/and results. I just have a few more and this will be it for this story. I want to start the second part for this, which will include some characters from Boruto.

Goodbyes weren't pretty, and although it was not a definite goodbye, it was a goodbye nonetheless. And the first person you came face to face with was Shikamaru, he had been present when you arrived to deliver the list of names. So, it was inevitable not having to face the male.

"Do you intend on returning?" He had asked you. Tsunade had been kind enough to leave the two of you alone.

But you've remembered one of the last interactions you had with Shikamaru. And you knew why he was asking you that. By saying goodbye, you were breaking any romantic opportunities he could have with you. " Right now all I need is time to think what it is that I want to do. And, it wouldn't be wise for me to return when we both know what's going to happen to me. No matter what good I've done, I committed crimes and some people will want for me to be punished."

" If your crimes were to be pardoned, would come back? " Once more, Shikamaru asked as he lowered his gaze. Perhaps trying to come up with a good reason for you to stay.

" You're more than a good reason to stay, " because he didn't have to say for you to know that was plaguing his ming. " You're a great man Shikamaru, and I know that if I were to return and stay, I would be happy. But there are things that I have yet to sort out. I don't know for how kong ill be gone, but I do not want you to hang on the idea that I will return one day. Because even I do not know that. "

Shikamaru knew that no matter how much he tried to give you a reason to stay, he wouldn't find one. Or at least, right now. And even if you returned, you would not give up on destroying brotherls. That gave meaning to your life, even if you came to an agreement with the Hokage or Kazekage. That was what you lived for. "Out of everyone, you're the most troublesome, you know that? But even so," with his heart twisting and breaking into pieces, he grabbed your face and kisses you. "But I do not regret ever meeting you or feeling the way that I do towards you. "
Almost shaking, he pulled away and headed towards the door. "I'll be waiting for your return."

Kakashi had not left, he had been waiting outside . You just didn't know whether he heard the conversation or not. But he entered when Shikamaru left.

The older male kept his eye on you for a couple of moments, trying to deep through his memories. There was a sense of deja vu, and he could not explain why.

"You didn't have a great past, did you Kakashi?" Finally you asked, offering him a sad smile.

His eye widened, and then he remembered. Back when Rin... He could recall seeing someone, but it has been so long that he thought that it was his machination and he forgot about it. "You were there, why?" Should be feel furious, that you dug where you should not have.

"Can you keep a secret Kakashi?" You asked, coming closer so that you could lower your voice. Kakashi frowned, but he nodded. "It feels that it shouldn't be me who tells you, but I don't think he will do so any time soon. " You began, whispering. "Your teammate, Obito, he isn't dead. He wanted me to go back in time, and even now, I still don't understand why. I saw the whole thing, I'm sorry for what happened."

Kakashi could see the guilt written all over your face. Saving Ein must have crossed your mind but you stopped yourself. You know all the scenarios, how much that could have changed the present. But he was a lot more concerned about Obito. " How is... " He had been in shock to hear that name, guilt also filled his chest.

So, you reached out to make and placed a comforting hand on his shoulder. " Sadly we all live in a world that is far from perfect, and he wanted to create a world where everyone would be happy. But that will be nothing but an illusion. " Literally. " I wasn't sure if I should tell you, but you deserve to know the truth. Obito isn't bad, we just... They just chose the wrong way to restore peace."

" Is he currently with you? " He questioned, the promise he had made Obito echoed in his brain.

" Yes, but please don't ask me to bring him to you.  Or vice versa, just like me, he needs time and hopefully one  day he can gather the strength and come to you. For now it's convenient for us all that he remains where he is. I'll do all that is in my power to keep him out of trouble."

He should tell the Hokage, he should but... Obito had been his friend. Kakashi promises him that he would protect Rin and he had been unable to do so. The least he could do now for him was to allow him to change whatever road he wanted to. Hopefully you would lead him to a good one. Kakashi placed his hand over yours and offered a squish. "However, if you feel the need to return to either the Leaf Village or the Sand Village, don't feel obligated to stay with Obito. You have every right to be happy, to form a family if you so desire."

"I will, and thank you. " Smiling, you let go of his shoulder and this time you made your way to the exit. "I should go and talk with the others before I leave, it's the least I can do. "

Kakashi observed as you left, but his gaze lingered on the door. A sense of relief filled his chest, to finally understand that he had not been crazy. And that he had in fact, seen that woman.

A woman he once called, the pretty lady. Just thinking about it made his cheeks turn red, and made him feel weird. All of these years, and despite the circumstances, he always remembered your face. And he wasn't mad about  it.
